As you know, to power the circuits on operational amplifiers, a bipolar stabilized power supply of ±15 V is required. It is desirable to have an adjustable power supply in the laboratory power supply with an output current of up to 1 A.

The circuit diagram of the power supply that meets these requirements is shown in Fig. 1.

The voltage of 1 ... 14 V removed from the secondary winding of the transformer T15 is fed to a bridge rectifier assembled on diodes VD1 ... VD4. Capacitors C1, C2 of the filter provide smoothing of the ripple of the rectified voltage of positive and negative polarities. A bipolar voltage regulator based on a unipolar DA1 microcircuit with a stabilization voltage of 15 V is made according to the scheme given in [1].

To obtain a stabilized voltage of negative polarity, an operational amplifier DA2 and a transistor VT1 are used. Capacitor C3 is necessary to smooth low-frequency relaxation oscillations. It reduces the ripple of the output voltage of the negative arm of the power supply. Capacitor C4 is used to reduce the ripple of the positive shoulder. The regulated power supply from 0 to +13 V is assembled on DA3 according to the scheme borrowed from [1]. Since when the supply voltage is turned off, the voltage rises to +13 V at the output of the regulated power supply, the load is connected to this output through the SB1 toggle switch, with which the 0 ... +13 V circuit is opened before the power supply is turned off.

The design uses a transformer with a power of at least 36 W with a tap from the midpoint of the secondary winding with a voltage of 2 x (14 ... 15) V. For the transformer, you can use the USh 22x33 magnetic circuit. The primary winding contains 2000 turns of wire PEV-2 x 0,2 mm, the secondary - 130 turns of wire PEV-2 x 0,8 mm. The design uses diodes of the KD226 type, capacitors C1, C2 of the K50-35 type, even better - Taiwanese-made 4700 μF x 25V, capacitors C3-C5 of the K73-17, K73-9 type. Operational amplifier DA2 can be replaced by KR140UD708 or K140UD6, K140UD7. As a transistor VT1, you can use any powerful low-frequency p-n-p transistor.

Fixed resistors of the MLT-0,25 type, variable resistor - SPZ-4aM. Switch SB1 type P2K with latching in the pressed position, you can use the MT-1 toggle switch, but in this case it is installed outside the printed circuit board.

The main part of the power supply elements is placed on a printed circuit board measuring 100 x 55 mm from one-sided foil fiberglass 1,5 mm thick (Fig. 2).

Microcircuits DA1, DA3, transistor VT1 are each placed on its own ribbed radiator with an area of 30 ... 50 cm2.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Battery health management technology from Apple 17.04.2020

Apple is rolling out a new feature for most modern MacBooks called Battery health management. It has already become available to developers and will become publicly available with the release of the macOS Catalina 10.15.5 update.

By default, the new feature is designed to increase the overall laptop battery life by reducing the rate of chemical aging. This is due to the fact that in some cases the battery is not fully charged to the maximum. Fully charging the battery places stress on the battery, which can shorten the overall battery life over time. Some smartphones avoid charging up to 100% for this reason, and you can track such incomplete charging using special applications.

As a result of the new feature, in some cases a 100% battery level may not mean the maximum charge level at all, but the maximum allowable level for extending battery life. In other words, the battery is charged not at 100% of its full capacity, but at 100% of the charge that it must accept in order to extend its life. The level of charge will be ensured so that it does not significantly reduce the battery life.

The new feature will be available on all Thunderbolt 3-enabled MacBooks, including all MacBook Pros released since 2016 and MacBook Air 2018 and later.
