To reduce the temperature inside the computer system unit, you can install an additional fan that supplies cold outside air to it. There is a place on the case of the system unit - on the back wall there are the necessary holes below the exhaust fan installed inside. An additional fan is mounted outside. To do this, you do not have to open the case of a computer under warranty.

The main advantage of the additional fan is its independent power supply and automatic control, which allows it to work for some time even after the system unit is turned off. This makes it possible not only to significantly reduce the temperature inside the block, but also to avoid unsuccessful restarts of the computer after a "freeze" as a result of overheating. An additional fan that continues to work after the computer is turned off quickly reduces the temperature of its overheated elements, making it possible to turn on the computer again with minimal delay and continue working.

Reducing the temperature in the computer system unit
Fig. 1

The diagram of the additional fan control unit is shown in fig. 1. A decrease in the resistance of the thermistor RK1 during heating leads to an increase in the current flowing through the emitting diode of the optocoupler U1. As a result, the resistance of its phototransistor decreases, and with it the duration of the pauses between pulses generated by the multivibrator on the integrated timer DA1 with a timing capacitor C1. Since the transistor VT1 is open during the pulse, and closed during the pause, the average voltage on the fan motor M1 and its rotational speed are greater, the higher the temperature of the thermistor RK1. Capacitor C4 eliminates the voltage surge when transistor VT1 breaks the fan power circuit. The brightness of the HL1 LED changes along with the rotational speed, which allows you to visually assess the fan operation mode.

The power supply of the device consists of a transformer T1, a rectifier bridge of diodes VD2-VD5, an integral stabilizer DA2, smoothing and filtering capacitors C2 and C3. An unstabilized voltage is supplied to the fan power circuit from the rectifier output, and a stabilized 9 V is supplied to the timer and other elements.

The fan starts to work when the average voltage on it exceeds 4 V. The temperature at which this happens can be adjusted by the trimmer resistor R5. And the temperature at which (and above) the intensity of the fan reaches a maximum (usually 50 ° C) is set by a tuning resistor R1. These adjustments are interdependent and may need to be repeated several times to obtain a satisfactory result.

A single-sided printed circuit board, on which almost all the parts of the fan control assembly are mounted, is shown in fig. 2. The KT829A transistor (it can be replaced with imported 333) is installed without a heat sink, since the power dissipated on it is small. Analogues of the integrated timer KR1006VI1 - microcircuits 555 or 7555 from various manufacturers. Trimmer resistors R1 and R5 - SP5-3 or SP2-3, oxide capacitors - K50-35 or imported.

The board, together with the T1 transformer (ALG12V500MA or TPP-114 2x6), the FU1 fuse-link and the SA1 switch, is placed in a plastic case from the power supply unit BP1. The thermistor RK1 is inserted through a hole in the case into the upper part of the computer system unit and fixed at a distance of 10 ... 15 mm from the processor heat sink.

The tests were carried out with an additional Corolful DC 12V 0,25 A fan. They confirmed that the average computer performance increased, crashes and freezes due to overheating of the elements disappeared, and the overall fan noise level decreased.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Internet from Lufthansa 01.07.2016

In October 2016, the first Lufthansa aircraft will take off on short and medium haul flights with broadband internet access on board. All Lufthansa's A2018 family aircraft are expected to be equipped with this innovative technology by mid-320.

One of the key milestones has already been achieved: Lufthansa Technik became the first aircraft operating, maintenance and repair company in Europe to receive a supplementary certificate (STC) from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for installing Ka-band antennas on Airbus A320 family aircraft, then available on the A319, A320 and A321 models. The presence of the STC certificate confirms that the modification of the aircraft (hardware or software) is in accordance with the design specifications provided by EASA. These changes will not affect the continued airworthiness of the aircraft.

The first aircraft was equipped with this technology in June. In the coming weeks, the functionality and stability of the systems installed on board will be tested. With a high degree of probability, Lufthansa passengers will be able to use the new Internet service from October, later this will be implemented with other airlines that are part of the Lufthansa Group.

The service, which will be provided to passengers by Lufthansa and its technology partner, Inmarsat, is based on state-of-the-art broadband satellite technology (Ka-band) and provides full reliable coverage on short and medium haul routes via Inmarsat's Global Xpress satellite network. Passengers will have access to the Internet via WiFi using their mobile devices.

In addition to standard access to mail or work in browsers, passengers will be able to use more complex applications or watch streaming video. Later, the possibility of sending sms-messages or transferring data from their mobile phones will be implemented.
