Dear radio amateurs. Now there are a lot of radio elements, including imported ones, for the development and modeling of their own designs. In amateur radio literature, on the Internet, you can find a lot of interesting amateur radio circuits and solutions. Every radio amateur knows how necessary a stabilized power supply is in a home laboratory. A lot of small-sized radioelements and designs appeared, they began to take on compactness, thereby freeing up space on the desktop. A lot of amateur radio power supply circuits can be found on the KR142EN12, KR142EN22A, KR142EN24, etc. microcircuits. But the trouble is that the lower adjustment limit of these microcircuits is 1,2-1,3 volts.

A radio amateur sometimes has to use a voltage of 0,5 ... 1 V. In this common power supply circuit (Fig. 1), a solution is proposed where the lower limit is 0 V.

The voltage at the anode zener diode VD3 KS113A must be exactly (-1,3V). It is necessary to adjust the resistor R8 and achieve a lower limit of 0.00V. The current protection resistor R3 can be calculated by the formula R(protect)=0,7/I(protect). I(protect) - the maximum current at which the protection will operate. Because there is no nominal value of 210 ohms, the resistor is made up of several. Capacitor C2 can be varied from 10 to 50 microfarads. Capacitor C3 can be used at 200 microfarads, but tantalum. Resistor R5 can be used from 10 to 36 ohms.

Prices for LM317 and KR142EN12 chips are low. This circuit is subject to any radio amateur and has current and short circuit protection.

Characteristics of this option

The output voltage is adjustable within 0...30,5 V.
Maximum load current 5 A.

The LM317 chip, without any modification, is replaced by the domestic KR142EN12. The protection system is taken from the Radio magazine. Resistor R3 can be calculated for any protection current. It is not recommended to raise the current above 5A, although it is possible. The lower limit of voltage adjustment is set by resistor R8. This resistor must be multi-turn, type SP5. The upper limit is selected by resistor R7. Plus bus 5v. you can power the digital scale of the power supply.

The printed circuit board was not developed, surface mounting was used. When using the KR142EN22A microcircuit, the VT2 transistor can be omitted. Good luck to YOU in the field of amateur radio.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Personal Pharmaceuticals 18.01.2018

A group of scientists led by Leroy Cronin from the University of Glasgow designed a device for self-creation of various chemical compounds from simple available components. The authors believe that this will be a big step towards "personal pharmaceutics".

Using 3D printing, the researchers designed a device called reactionware. It consists of several interconnected vessels in which four different chemical reactions can take place. By adding various reagents and solvents at the right time and in the right order, readily available starting compounds can be converted into the desired substances. Specifically, in the new paper, the researchers described the creation of the popular muscle relaxant baclofen, an anticonvulsant drug, an acne remedy, and a cure for heartburn.

The advantage of the technology is that you can create a device anywhere using a standard 3D printer. This can be useful for hard-to-reach areas or, for example, on a space station. The technology opens up the possibility of easily creating drugs that are rarely used and often commercially unjustified. In addition, this approach minimizes the participation of people in a hazardous production process. It will also become easier for scientists to create trial batches of the compounds needed for research.

The main risk of the new technology is obvious - the possibility of uncontrolled creation of dangerous compounds, including narcotic ones. This problem will have to be solved if the proposed technology becomes widely available.
