The machine successfully, after a dozen broken drills during the optimization of the algorithm :-) drills boards for me at a speed of about 10 holes per minute, even with high-hard drills that are fragile like glass. Now I even started to indulge in engraving, but I need to come up with an interface. Now it's a parallel port, so it won't work under Windows anyway :-(. DOS'om he works hard with 100.000D, and the machine can theoretically.

Machine parameters:

- processed volume - 320x230x110 mm

- theoretical accuracy - 200 steps per mm

- practical accuracy - 0.1-0.2 mm (I can’t measure more precisely)

- motor speed - up to 3 revolutions per second.

- the number of axles is now 3, but the electronics are designed for 4, + 8 limit switches.

Additional information sent by the author of the project

The main structure consists of 10 mm plexiglass. Linear furniture bearings are used as guides (quite a precision thing, but only if they are all-metal).

The movement is carried out by a worm gear (long M6 bolt with a nut :), which is rotated by stepper motors (marking: Vexta Oriental Motor Ltd., C6431-9212, 3.18V, 1.05A, 2-phase, 200 steps per revolution). The motors are fed through the L298 switches with a stabilized current of 1 A per motor, Umax up to 12 Volts (actually it should be 2A, but there are linear current stabilizers on the LM317, and they will consume too much energy).

The scheme is quite simple - a decoder and buffer registers + an RS flip-flop for limit switches. That part of the circuit where the PIC16C84 stands was never implemented - it just had to be a PWM controller ... hands did not reach the new circuit on the microcontroller.

Drill: - 10-18V DC, 45-120W, up to 20.000 rpmb/min with the right precision jaw chuck (the most expensive part of the machine costing about 70 DM :)).

Program: - a simple program that uses a list of hole coordinates that I export with a script from Eagle 3.55 (cadsoft.de) (example attached). The principle of motor control is microstep, all motors can rotate synchronously, i.e. I calculate the movement time of each engine at the beginning, take the maximum from this and adjust the speeds of the remaining motors, while setting the cycle, for example 100000, the first motor steps every 700 cycles, the second every 1400, the third every 10000 cycles - it turns out about 143,7 and 10 steps on the motor ... and so on ...

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Space solar power plants 27.10.2023

A group of researchers from the universities of Surrey and Swansea presented innovative technologies for creating solar panels for generating energy in outer space. Experts spent six years observing the prototype in orbit, assessing its power generation performance and exposing it to solar radiation as it orbited Earth 30 times.

The research developed cadmium telluride solar cells that provide broad coverage, lightness, and high energy efficiency. Compared to existing technologies, these panels provide significantly more power and are available at a lower cost.

Scientists installed solar panels on a small CubeSat and sent it into a 661 km x 700 km sun-synchronous orbit in the summer of 2016. Even after six years, the mission continues to operate successfully in orbit, although the efficiency of the panels' initial power has diminished slightly over time.

Experts believe that their research confirms the performance of solar energy systems in space and demonstrates their potential commercial viability. Professor Craig Underwood, one of the co-authors of the development, said: “This low-mass solar cell technology could provide the basis for large-scale, cost-effective solar power plants in space, capable of delivering clean energy to Earth. We now have the first convincing evidence of its successful operation.” technologies in orbit.
