At present, inexpensive multifunctional digital multimeters "MY-67" can be found on sale, which differ from other similar devices of the same price category (500-800 rubles) by automatic range switching in the voltage and resistance measurement mode, high accuracy, comfortable keyboard and good case design. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise that the readings on the display do not "float" when manually switching the ranges, as in some other models of automatic multimeters, i.e., if a voltage of 4 V was measured when manually switching on the 2,563 V range, then with successive pressing of the button " UP" on the display, the readings remain: 2,56 - 2,5 - 2 V, and not some other values. Among others, the multimeter of this model also has the functions of sound continuity of circuits, a switchable sound alarm for switching the type of work, and an intermittent sound signal when overloaded.

Unfortunately, the buzzer in this model works quietly, which under certain circumstances causes inconvenience. When studying the design of the device, it turned out that the sound emitter, made on an electromagnetic capsule with a winding resistance of 50 ohms, is powered by two printed tracks through two current-limiting resistors of 100 ohms from a single chip - a frameless LSI (board "MY67-6"). Studies with an oscilloscope showed that anti-phase rectangular pulses with an amplitude of 0,3 V (double peak-to-peak 0,6 V) arrive at the sound emitter. When the capsule is turned off, the signal amplitude increases by 10 times. By reducing the resistance of current-limiting resistors or connecting piezoelectric different models instead of an electromagnetic sound emitter, it was not possible to significantly increase the signal volume.

Refinement of the multimeter MY-67

When analyzing the circuit of the device, it was found that the common wire "COM" and the minus of the battery in this model are the same (as in "MY-68", "M320"), which greatly facilitates its refinement.

On both tracks, previously going to the "tweeter", there is a log. 0 when there is no audio signal, or anti-phase pulses with an amplitude of 3 V relative to the common wire when the sound should be. To increase the volume of the emitter, both of these tracks are cut in a convenient place and a simple assembly is assembled, the diagram of which is shown in the figure. The amplifier input is connected to any of the cut tracks. The polarity of the emitter is indicated on the side of the terminals and can be found out by temporarily unsoldering it. The power wires from the node must be connected to the same points where the wires from the battery are soldered.

With the value of the resistor R2 indicated on the diagram, the amplitude of the pulses on the capsule increases from 0,6 to 2 V, which gives an increase in volume by 2 ... 3 times. It is interesting to note that the current consumed in the continuity mode increases after the alteration by only 15%. You can increase the volume even more by reducing the resistance of the resistor R2.

The transistor must be taken with a small reverse collector current, any of the KT3130, KT3102, KT342, BC547, SS9014, 2SC1222 series will do. The diode is suitable for types KD512, KD522, KD103 with any letter index.

Additional parts can be carefully glued to the board from the mounting side with BF-2 glue. During long breaks in operation, the central switch in the "MY-67" device should be set to the "OFF" position, since when the device is turned off with the "POWER" button, it continues to consume a small current.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Prosthetic eye with night vision 29.05.2020

Scientists from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology have presented a prototype of an artificial electrochemical eye, the structure and principle of which are similar to an ordinary human eye.

Wires that mimic the visual cortex of the brain transmit the visual information collected by these sensors to a computer for processing. And the nanowires are so sensitive that they can surpass the optical wavelength range of the human eye, allowing the bionic eye to respond to wavelengths of 800 nm, that is, to work on the threshold between visual light and infrared radiation.

This means that the device can see things in the dark, when the human eye can no longer distinguish anything. According to the developers, the owner of such an eye will acquire the ability of night vision. The researchers also claim that the eye can respond to changes in light faster than the human eye, allowing it to adjust to changing conditions in less time.

Each square centimeter of the artificial retina can hold about 460 million nanoscale sensors. Then in the human retina there are about 10 million cells per square centimeter.

The scientists now intend to focus on being able to connect this bionic eye to the human visual system.
