To set up radio-electronic equipment, power reversible electric motors, electromagnets, power supplies with voltage inversion are required. The figure shows a diagram of a simple power supply that allows you to smoothly change the voltage at the load from +Uout to -Uout.

The power supply is based on two adjustable voltage stabilizers DA1, DA2 type mA7805 (LM7805) or their analogue - KR142EN5A(V). Adjusting the output voltage of the stabilizers is interdependent and is carried out by the potentiometer R2. So, when the value of R2 changes, the voltage across the resistor R4 changes from 5 to 10 V; at the same time, the voltage across the resistor R5 changes from 10 to 5 V. Thus, the output voltage at the terminals AB is smoothly regulated from +5 to -5 V.

Power supply with smooth voltage inversion

Adjustment of the device consists in the selection of resistors R1 (P3) until it is obtained on resistors R4 and R5 when adjusting R2 (with the voltage turned off to the required limits of voltage change relative to the common bus - 5 ... 10 V and 10 ... 5 V, respectively.

The minimum value of the load resistance is determined by the ratio Rload 4 Ohm (R5=R10=1 Ohm), resistor dissipation power is 1,5 W, and the maximum load current is 4 mA (when Rload>5 Ohm, the maximum load current is limited to 10 mA).

When Rload drops below the minimum value (up to a short circuit), Uout decreases. There is no damage to integrated circuits.

The circuit can be easily converted to a higher output voltage using the mA7806, mA7809, etc. series of integrated circuits. or their counterparts of the KR142EN5, 8, 9 series. When the potentiometer R2 is made on an annular closed core with diametrically connected contacts and connected to the potentiometer axis through a motor reducer, a slowly changing voltage of a sinusoidal or other form can be obtained at the output of the device.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Memory shirt 15.11.2001

Florence-based Italian haute couture firm Corpo Novo has created a men's shirt that rolls up its sleeves when the wearer gets hot. In addition, it must be ironed not with an iron, but with a hairdryer.

The fact is that for every five fibers of nylon in the material of the shirt, there is one thin wire made of nitinol - an alloy with shape memory. Products from this alloy, if they are given a certain shape at a certain temperature, and then this shape is changed, upon returning to the critical temperature, they “remember” the given configuration. So, if you roll up the sleeves of this shirt and heat it up to, say, 35 degrees, and then cool the fabric and lower the sleeves, then when they reach 35 degrees again, they will roll up themselves.

In the same way, it is enough to iron this shirt once, for example, with an iron with a temperature of 50 degrees. Then you can crumple it however you like. After heating to this temperature, it will smooth itself out, each fold will straighten out.

The miracle shirt has only two drawbacks: the prototype cost almost $3500 to manufacture and, in addition, there is no choice of colors: the color of nitinol is silver gray.
