The development will be able to find its rightful place in the kitchens near gas stoves, AGV and other appliances with "blue fuel". Especially if an additional capacitor C2 with a capacity of 0,1 μF is introduced into the thyristor part of a home-made device, followed by correction of the values of C1, PM and B2 (highlighted in bold lines and in bold on the circuit diagram).

In this case, the high-voltage voltage at the ignition electrodes, as well as the power of the spark, will almost double. And the thyristor will last many times longer due to the fact that it will work in a mode that practically excludes the so-called reverse electrical breakdown. If K2-73 or a similar small-sized one with a rated voltage of 17 V is used as C400, then no changes to the printed circuit board are required. It is enough to slightly move the old C1 to the transformer in order to fit an additional capacitor in the released gap.

For those who start making an electronic "match" for the first time, it is useful to recall that the magnetic circuit here is a 20-mm piece of a ferrite rod Ф400-Ф2000, round or rectangular in section (from the magnetic antenna of the radio receiver). First, such a rod is wrapped with insulating tape (2-3 layers), followed by the placement of a high-voltage winding (6x90 turns of PEV2-0,06), wrapping it with two layers of the same electrical tape, followed by impregnation with paraffin or epoxy resin. The low-voltage winding (4 turns of PEV2-0.4) is placed on top of the high-voltage one.

The winding leads are soldered to the corresponding areas of the printed circuit board, made so that the conductors going to the arrester (and these are printed elements separated from each other and separated by a special cut) do not reach the tapering end of the board by 1,5 mm and that the protective gap is mandatory filled with epoxy resin, squeezed out when gluing an insulating lining of 2 mm fiberglass.

The layout of the electronic lighter: 1 - printed circuit board; 2 - insulating pad; 3 - transformer T1; 4 - capacitor C1; 5 - power button; 6 - spring contact; 7 - diode VD1; 8 - resistor R1; 9 - resistor 112; 10 - diode VD2; 11 - thyristor VS1; 12 - body; 13 - capacitor C2.

The material for the printed circuit board is one-sided foil fiberglass, and for the springy contact of the SB1 button - a strip of 15x6 mm. which is cut (with giving the appropriate shape) from 0,2 mm brass or phosphor bronze.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Soothing soda 17.09.2020

The American corporation PepsiCo is going to start selling a new branded drink called Driftwell in the first quarter of next year.

A new branded soda from PepsiCo Corporation with a rather strange name Driftwell will go on sale in the US in the first quarter of 2021. A refreshing non-alcoholic drink, the developers assure, in addition to quenching thirst, it also has a sedative effect, helps to fall asleep and even fight anxiety. This is achieved by Driftwell's naturally occurring amino acid L-theanine.

This substance helps to relax the body and increases stress resistance. So far, Driftwell soothing soda has only one taste - blackberry-lavender. The development of the drink began long before the coronavirus pandemic, and now, according to PepsiCo, it will become especially relevant against the backdrop of a significant increase in stress and insomnia among the US population. The U.S. soft drink market was $2,97 billion last year.

According to analysts, sales should grow by at least 5% this year. Soothing drinks are still new to the US, although in Japan, for example, they have long been popular. Researchers from the UK recently analyzed the purchases of nearly 9000 British families who regularly drink alcohol, juice or other soft drinks.

The results suggest that soda and juice drinkers tend to be more likely to be overweight or obese. It has also been found that these people are more likely to have a lower socioeconomic status. Families who buy mostly wine or dairy drinks tend to have a higher preference for healthy foods and are less likely to be overweight.
