Cockroaches are known to be attracted to smell. They are lured into a trap with odorous bait. Its design can be of any shape: in the form of a cylinder, a parallelepiped, a cube ... On the inner wall along the perimeter there are two conductive copper foil plates. The material of the trap itself is foil textolite or other metallized plastic. On fig. Figures 1 and 2 show the dimensions of the prismatic and cylindrical traps. Please note that the unpainted part indicates the conductive layer. Finished parts are glued together with BF-2 glue or epoxy.

To obtain a high voltage (about 1200 V), a multiplier circuit operating from a 220 V household network is used. At the output of the circuit, capacitor C5 is charged up to 1200 V. Capacitor type - K15-5, capacitance 1000-1500 pF, voltage 1600 V. Capacitors C1 -C4 type MBM with a capacity of 0,01 μF, voltage 750 V. Diodes D1-D4 type KD105G, MD217, 2D108 A, B or others for a voltage of at least 750 V. For decoupling from the network and safe operation, resistors R1-R4 are included in the circuit type MLT 0,25-0,5, each not less than 10 MΩ, which satisfies the Rules for the operation of electrical installations.

The whole circuit is placed in a rectangular plastic soap dish and connected to the trap by a vinyl-insulated electrical wire to power household electrical appliances.

According to the author, the trap works flawlessly. And as bait, he used fresh beer, a solution of fresh yeast with sugar.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Full color OLED WUXGA microdisplay 07.11.2021

eMagin, which specializes in developing, designing and manufacturing high-resolution active matrix OLED microdisplays for AR and VR headsets and other applications where the display is close to the eyes, has unveiled a WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) resolution prototype. It uses Direct Patterning Display (dPd) technology to achieve a record high brightness of 10 cd/m000. According to the manufacturer, this is the world's brightest high-resolution full-color OLED microdisplay.

"This is a historic moment for eMagin and the industry, and our biggest achievement to date in the development of our proprietary dPd technology," eMagin CEO Andrew G. Sculley described the prototype. "Applying direct framing to displays WUXGA, we've achieved a peak brightness of over 10 cd/m000 and rich RGB colors, a 2x improvement over our standard XL microdisplays on white OLEDs with a color filter and three to four times the performance of our new XLE microdisplays , and we believe it is the world's brightest high-resolution full-color micro OLED display, and we are working with a first-tier customer company on this development, including finding ways to produce it commercially.

The illustration on the left shows the structure of a microdisplay on white OLEDs with a color filter, on the right - the structure of a microdisplay that uses dPd technology.

"The 10 cd/m000 full-color brightness is an important milestone on our journey to full-color displays in excess of 2 cd/m28 by mid-000," added Scully. "In comparison, a typical laptop monitor delivers 2 cd/m2023 brightness, and a quality smartphone is as low as 250 cd/m2.In addition, our dPd displays contain over 1000 individually addressable pixels per inch (ppi) for remarkable clarity and resolution compared to typical 2 ppi laptop screens and OLED screens. smartphones with a resolution of 2500 pixels per inch.
