The article describes a device that, when connected in series with a load, provides a periodic interruption of the current through it.

DD1.6 remains low, while the transistor VT1 is closed, and the load is de-energized.

The timing generator circuit consists of elements R3, R4. Sat. With the ratings indicated on the diagram, the frequency of the control pulses is approximately 100 Hz with a duty cycle of about 1 4. By selecting these elements, you can change the generation frequency from 0,005 Hz to tens of kilohertz.

Fig. 1

The switching element - field effect transistor IRFP2907 (VT1) in the TO-247AC package is capable of operating at a drain-source voltage of 75 V and a drain current of up to 209 A. The power dissipated by the case reaches 470 W (with a heat sink, of course). The transistor has an extremely low on-resistance of only 0,0045 ohms, which ensures a low voltage drop across the channel. A heat sink is also required at high switching frequencies (maximum chip temperature - 175 °C).

The main feature of the interrupter in question is its versatility in terms of supply voltage, which allows it to be used in a variety of designs without any alterations, for example, to control the temperature of the soldering iron by supplying it with a pulsed current (in this case, you can replace the VT1 transistor with a lower current one), to control home-made decorative lighting Christmas trees, car turn signal lights, intermittent DC motor control, etc.

The device is assembled by wire mounting on a technological board with dimensions of 40x35 mm (Fig. 3). Resistors R1 and R2 - C5-5. The remaining resistors and capacitors are any.

The maximum supply voltage of the interrupter is limited to 75 V - the maximum drain-source voltage of the IRFP2907 transistor. However, during testing, the device successfully operated at voltages up to 100 V. For reliable operation at a supply voltage greater than 75 V, the IRFP2907 transistor can be replaced by IRFP150N. IRFP260N IRFP3710 These are n-channel field-effect transistors in the TO-247 package with a large allowable drain-source voltage, but a lower drain current.

The device uses a voltage converter MAX680 in a DIP8 package, which requires four binding capacitors for operation, but MAX681 can be used in a DIP14 package. which does not need external elements at all. Chips DD1 and DA1 on the board are installed in the panel.

It should be noted that when the supply voltage of the interrupter is more than 50 V, an excessively large power is released on the resistors R1 and R2, and in order to prevent overheating, they should be forcibly cooled by a fan. Zener diode VD1 will have to be installed on the heat sink.

The described current interrupter has been successfully operating for two years when testing electronic components for failure-free operation.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Lonely and unhappy people age faster than smokers 03.10.2022

According to a new study by Deep Longevity, mental health affects the rate of aging more than smoking and certain diseases. Especially vulnerable to premature aging were lonely and unhappy people who do not sleep well.

With age, various molecular damage accumulates in our cells, contributing to the overall aging of the body and the development of various diseases. In some people, these molecular processes are more intense than in others. This condition is commonly referred to as accelerated aging.

Fortunately, the increase in the rate of aging can be detected even before the first consequences appear. Deep Longevity is developing models that predict the rate of aging based on epigenetic changes, end-of-chromosome changes (telomeres), gene expression, and concentrations of various metabolites. These models can be used to develop anti-aging therapies. However, now a team of American and Chinese scientists have shown that any such therapy should not only focus on physical but also mental health.

As a result, the researchers found signs of accelerated aging in people with a history of stroke, liver and lung disease, in smokers, and in people who are in a vulnerable mental state. It turned out that the feeling of loneliness and unhappiness, anxiety and poor sleep increase the biological age of a person even more than smoking. Other factors associated with the acceleration of aging include living in rural areas, which is likely due to the low availability of medical services.

Thus, according to scientists, the psychological aspect of aging should not be neglected either in research or in the development of anti-aging therapy. Mental and psychosocial conditions are among the most reliable markers of health and quality of life, but they are practically not taken into account in the modern healthcare system.
