Fire safety electrical installations is associated with the use of combustible insulating materials - rubber, plastics, varnishes, etc. The causes of their ignition can be electric sparks, arcs, short circuits and overloading of wires, malfunctions of instruments and apparatus, machines and mechanisms with electric drive.

The most fire hazardous type of electrical installation - wiring, in which overloads and short circuits most often occur. In addition, some types of insulation of wires and cables are capable of igniting from extraneous sources.

Overload arises due to the connection to the wiring of current collectors, the total rated current of which exceeds the allowable for a given section of the conductor.

During overloads, fires are also associated with an increased voltage drop in the contacts. The greater the voltage drop in the contacts, the greater their heating and the likelihood of ignition of the wires connected to the contacts.

Short circuits can occur with mechanical damage to the wires and due to careless installation. If there are loose contacts in the wiring, places with melted or charred insulation, then when the conductors of the wire or cable are closed and rough protection ("bugs") at the short circuit point, a significant increase in temperature and ignition of the insulation occurs.

Often, improper use of various clamp designs in electrical wiring leads to poor and unreliable contacts, and as a result, to a fire.

Contact clamps wall switches and sockets, cartridges, fuses, etc. are designed for connecting copper and aluminum wires, terminal clamps of portable current collectors - only copper wires.

To prevent the occurrence of a fire, it is forbidden to install electric heaters (irons, fireplaces, electric stoves, etc.) close to combustible materials, cover them with clothes, dry combustible objects on them, etc. It is necessary to constantly monitor the wear of conductive cores and insulation of connecting cords heating appliances.

The same applies to operation of lamps. If the bulb of an incandescent lamp is covered with dust, then its surface temperature can reach 250-300 °C. If such a bulb comes into contact with cloth, paper, wood, etc., strong heating is possible in the contact zone, which can lead to charring of combustible materials, and then to ignition.

During the operation of the luminaires, loosening of contacts and the resulting sparks and local heating are possible. In some cases, short circuits occur at the input points.

RџSЂRё putting out a fire in a house with wiring, electrical appliances, machines and mechanisms with an electric drive, you first need to de-energize everything.

It is forbidden to extinguish a fire with a foam fire extinguisher and water in the presence of voltage in the network, since these agents, firstly, have increased electrical conductivity and, secondly, contribute to the development of a fire. Extinguish the fire with a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher or sand.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Superfast Internet from Google 04.08.2012

Google launched the Fiber TV service and provided ultra-high-speed Internet access for residents of Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. Two cities have become winners in a two-year Google competition.

There are three unlimited tariff plans for users: Gigabit + TV, Gigabit Internet and Free Internet. Buyers of the first offer will receive for $120 per month: Internet access at a speed of 973 Mbps, connection to the Google Fiber TV service (more than 160 channels), an external hard drive with a capacity of 2 TB, 1 TB for storing video files in the Google cloud service Drive, network adapter, set-top box, and a Nexus 7 tablet as a remote control.

Users who don't want to watch TV can opt for a second plan for $70 a month and get 973 Mbps Internet access, 1 TB of Google Drive, and a network adapter.

Users who choose Free Internet are offered a real trifle - unlimited Internet for a period of at least seven years at a speed of 5 Mbps (outgoing channel - 1 Mbps). The $300 payment, however, is due within the first year. For the first two tariff plans, a mandatory contract is concluded for two years.
