PROTECTION OF THE RECEIVING PATH FROM OVERLOADS

When using separate antennas for RX and TX, a strong signal during transmission disrupts the operation of the receiving path. To prevent this, it is necessary to close the input of the receiver to the body in the TX mode (the changes that need to be introduced in Fig. 10 from [L] are shown in Fig. 1). An additional transistor and relay are located on the chassis under the DFT board.

BALANCING THE MIXER IN THE RECEIVER

To facilitate balancing and adjusting the current through the mixer, additional resistors R1-R3 should be installed (see Fig. 2 in the article and Fig. 11 in the book). With the ratings of the parts indicated in the diagram, balancing to a minimum of noise turns out to be very sharp. It should be borne in mind that even a slight change in the current through the mixer by resistor R2 leads to a shift in the balancing point. You can control the noise with an avometer in the AC voltage measurement mode, connected to the "TLF" jacks. The current flowing through the mixer can be determined by the voltage drop across resistor R1.

Additional elements are located at the top of the A2 board.

NOISE REDUCTION

If the transceiver is used in conjunction with a broadband amplifier and separate antennas for RX and TX, the noise during reception increases noticeably. As it turned out, the source of noise is the cascade on transistors VT3, VT4 in the output amplifier. It does not close when receiving and a significant current flows through it. Noise through the output stage and an external amplifier is radiated by the antenna and enters the receiver input. To prevent this, switches were introduced on transistors VT15, VT16 (see Fig. 30, a fragment is given in Fig. 3 in the article), opening transistors VT3, VT4 only during transmission.

The newly introduced elements are installed on the A19 board by surface mounting.

BALANCING THE WIDE BAND POWER AMPLIFIER

To balance the power amplifier, a resistor R5 was additionally introduced (see Fig. 62 in [L] and Fig. 4 in the article). In this case, the input impedance of the PA for RF is preserved. After balancing, TV1 decreased noticeably, although this is not a cardinal solution to the problem.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

World's most complex insect brain map ever created 12.03.2023

Researchers understand the structure of the brain and map it in sufficient detail, but they still do not know exactly how it processes data - this requires a detailed "diagram" of the brain. Now scientists have created such a map for a fruit fly larva. It is called a connectome and reflects 3016 neurons and 548 synapses of an insect, reports Neuroscience News. The map will help researchers better understand how insect and animal brains control behavior, learning, bodily functions, and more. This work may even inspire improvements in artificial intelligence networks.

"Until now, we haven't seen the structure of any brain other than the C. elegans roundworm, the low chordate tadpole, and the anelid larva, which have several hundred neurons," said Professor Marta Zlatik from the MRC Molecular Biology Laboratory. "worked without circuits. Without knowing the structure of the brain, we can guess how calculations are made. But now we can start to get a mechanistic understanding of how the brain works."

To create the map, the team scanned thousands of sections of the larva's brain using an electron microscope and then integrated them into a detailed map, marking all the neural connections. Next, they used computational tools to determine likely information flow paths and types of "scheme motifs" in the insect's brain. They even noticed that some of the structural features are very reminiscent of modern deep learning architecture.

Scientists have created detailed maps of the brain of a fruit fly, which is much more complex than a fruit fly larva. However, these maps do not include all the detailed connections needed to obtain a true brain diagram.

In the next step, the team will explore the structures used for behavioral functions such as learning and decision making, and will also study the activity of the connectome when insects perform certain actions. And although the fruit fly larva is a simple insect, the researchers expect to see similar patterns in other animals. "Just as genes are conserved throughout the animal kingdom, I think the basic circuit motifs that implement these fundamental behaviors will also be conserved," Zlatik said.
