Firm TelecontrolIi manufactures miniature wireless communication devices in ultrasonic (US), infrared (IR) and radio bands. All devices have a modular structure. The modules are made in the form of complete devices, do not require additional elements (external circuits, quartz resonators, etc.) and are practically ready for use (see figure).

Application of Telecontrolli wireless communication devices

RF components are produced in three types - receivers, transmitters and a new device - a combined dual-band transceiver. The devices are designed to operate at frequencies of 315 and 868 MHz, as well as for the most commonly used in Russia range of 433 MHz [1].

In the IR range, the company offers three devices: a passive IR detector that responds to the thermal radiation of the human body, and a pulsed IR transmitter and detector that make up a pair [2]. Probably, the only group that requires at least some additional external elements is ultrasonic devices [2].

Miniature dimensions and low power consumption are only a small part of the advantages that Telecontrolli devices have. As already mentioned, one of the most important advantages of modules is their functional completeness. To create a channel, you do not need to design, solder and debug the device, you just need to supply power to the finished device and attach an antenna to it. The option with a separate receiver and transmitter for the RF range eliminates the unnecessary cost of purchasing combined transceivers in the case when it is necessary to implement a one-way data transmission channel.

The advantages of this category of devices include the absence of a built-in control microcontroller. Usually developers get used to working with any one microcontroller or already have applications ready, to which they only need to add a wireless channel instead of a wired one in order to get a product with new features. A single-wire serial interface of the module with a controlling external microcontroller may be the only possible solution in case of a critical lack of ports. For lovers of PIC-controllers, the company will soon begin production of receiver and transmitter modules with a built-in PIC12C508 controller. The devices offered by Telecontrolli are among the cheapest on the market. Companies such as RF Monolitics or Xemics specialize in integrated grancivers in a single device in the form of a small chip that requires external "strapping".

In addition to common remote control units for household equipment and car alarm systems, Telecontrolli devices are widely used in security systems of buildings and structures. They can not only be built into panels and control panels to connect these blocks to each other, but also create burglar and fire alarm sensors. On the basis of a passive IR detector, "presence sensors" are made. A pair of pulsed IR receiver and transmitter makes it possible to implement an infrared barrier. Ultrasonic transceivers are used in motion detectors. A distinctive feature of systems based on IR and US range modules is their high noise immunity. When protecting long-distance objects, to connect individual parts of the security system located at a considerable distance (100 ... 200 m), they use a radio channel from the same modules from Telecontrolli.

The popularity of registration-type car security systems is growing. When you try to steal a vehicle, the car alarm transmits a radio signal to the owner's miniature console (pager) or to the dispatcher's central console. Such a solution may be relevant for paid guarded parking lots, garage cooperatives, corporate parking lots near offices.

Telecontrolli modules are used in industrial and domestic systems for collecting data from various types of sensors (temperature, pressure, humidity, level, etc.) as part of automated process control systems (APCS) or automated control systems and electricity metering (ASKUE). Sensors in such systems can be located in hard-to-reach places where it is difficult to lay a wire. Another reason for using the radio channel: it is safer to place individual metering devices at housing and communal facilities in the owners' apartments, but access to them to control readings in this case is limited for obvious reasons. RF modules with low power consumption are a convenient and cheap solution to the problem. Thus, the German company ENB manufactures devices for metering water and heat consumption with a radio channel, while the battery life is at least three years. In the near future, Telecontrolli will additionally release data transmission modules over the power network (Power Line Modem). Such modems are already widely used abroad in ASKUE systems.

On automatic assembly lines, RF modules can be used to transfer parameters, thereby realizing paperless assembly technology. When the pallet approaches the assembly site, the radio transmitter “wakes up” and transmits to the terminal the composition of the assembly operations at this workplace.

In everyday life, Telecontrolli devices, including ultrasonic range devices built on the principle of motion detectors, are widely used in remote door opening systems, lighting control and management. On the basis of radio frequency modules, systems for remote opening gates and garages are made, especially since the same key fob can be used both for car alarms and as a remote gate opener. If the software used in conjunction with the RF module of the microcontroller allows, then using the same key fob, you can control the garage lighting.

Motor transport companies are actively using radio frequency modules. Telecontrolli's devices make it possible to automate the recording of vehicle traffic along fixed routes in order to ensure the rhythm of transportation, increase the reliability of trip accounting, reduce non-production losses, and accumulate information for planning production activities. Such automated systems make it possible to take into account the duration of shifts and the composition of vehicles in a shift, monitor compliance by drivers with specified loading / unloading points, and take into account the number of flights of each driver for payroll.

This is not a complete list of areas where Telecontrolli modules can be applied. Not so long ago, on the website of the American company Acroname Inc. information about new developments in the field of robotics was presented. What components do you think the developers used to connect the robots to each other? Readers interested in Telecontrolli instruments can find more detailed technical information in Russian at .

Water purification and hydrogen production using artificial photocatalysis 23.11.2023

Researchers from the University of Cambridge have unveiled an innovative solar-powered device that can simultaneously convert polluted or ordinary seawater into hydrogen fuel and clean drinking water.

A new device based on solar energy and using artificial photocatalysis represents a significant step in solving global problems with drinking water and fuel, especially in third world countries.

The scientists embedded a photocatalyst that absorbs ultraviolet light onto a nanostructured carbon mesh, which in turn absorbs infrared light. This approach is designed to stimulate the formation of water vapor, which is used by the photocatalyst to produce hydrogen. The porous carbon mesh, treated to repel water, allows the photocatalyst to move freely and remain above the water's surface, minimizing exposure to contaminants. This device configuration also improves solar energy efficiency. Researchers were able to emulate transpiration technology, imitating the process of water moving through a plant and its evaporation from above-ground parts.

The scientists then tested their invention using real open water sources, including the River Cam in central Cambridge and turbid industrial wastewater from paper production. As a result, the device maintained 80% of initial performance even after 154 hours in artificial seawater.

According to the researchers, since the photocatalyst is isolated from contaminants in the water source and remains relatively dry, the device is able to maintain its operational stability over a long period of time.
