Sitting at the computer at night, I noticed the excessive noise emitted by the air cooling system. And why not automatically, depending on the temperature, control the speed of the coolers? After 2 months of looking for a suitable circuit, I improved and tuned it. The circuit performs relay speed control of 3 coolers at once, depending on the temperature.

Do-it-yourself thermal control for a computer. Thermal control circuit for PC

Schematic diagram

For myself, I decided to use a hard disk as a measured object, the response temperature set for me was about 39-40 degrees. The NTC thermistor B57891-M 103-J 10 kΩ served as a temperature sensor, the thermistor is fixed on the metal cover of the hard drive. The circuit consists of a control block and an indication block. The control unit consists of a Schmidt trigger on the K553UD2 operational amplifier. 3 coolers are connected to the circuit, 2 of them work for the inlet-outlet of the air flow from the PC case, the third cooler is installed at the bottom of the hard drive. The display unit is made using the K561TL1 microchip.

Now a little about the operation of the circuit

The op-amp compares the two voltages at its inputs, and if they are equal, then the op-amp supply voltage appears at the output. The response temperature is set by a variable resistor R2, for a more accurate and smooth setting, R2 and R9 were soldered in series to R7, the values \u1b\u8bof which are selected empirically. Zener diode VD8 is necessary to stabilize the supply voltage of the op-amp. Resistor R1 provides positive feedback. The value of R1 was determined empirically. Capacitor C3 completely eliminates unwanted and unexpected mode switching. Transistor VT2 takes over the load current from 5 coolers. The Zener diode VD6 allows you to set the supply voltage of the coolers before the relay trips in the range of XNUMX-XNUMX V.

The display block shows what mode the circuit is in at the moment. If the temperature is below the value set by the variable resistor R2, then the blue LED is on. If the relay is activated, the red LED lights up.

In conclusion, I give photos of the device I got. As well as file for SprintLayout v.4

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The smell of a partner improves sleep 04.03.2020

The scent of a romantic partner may improve sleep, a new study from the University of British Columbia suggests. Researchers found that study participants who were exposed to their partner's body odor throughout the night had better sleep quality, even if their partner wasn't physically present.

"We saw an effect commensurate with taking supplements of melatonin, the 'sleep hormone' often used as a mild sleep aid," says Marlies Hofer, lead author of the study. The researchers analyzed data from 155 participants who were given two identical T-shirts to use as pillowcases. One of them was previously worn by their romantic partner.

To capture body odor on T-shirts, participants' partners were given a clean T-shirt to wear for 24 hours. They were required to refrain from using deodorants and scented body products, smoking, exercising, and eating certain foods that can affect body odor. The T-shirts were then frozen to preserve the flavor.

The researchers measured participants' sleep quality with a sleep watch that tracked their movements throughout the night. Volunteers reported feeling more rested that night when they slept with their partner's scent. Objective sleep data showed that their sleep actually improved. "One of the most surprising findings is that the scent of a romantic partner improves the quality of sleep on a subconscious level," says Francis Chen, senior author of the study. The researchers highlight that the physical presence of a partner is associated with positive health outcomes, which in turn leads to better sleep. The scent of a partner may have similar benefits.
