At the stands of shops and salons there is now a large selection of all kinds of audio equipment, including those with CD players. Many computers are now also equipped with a CD-ROM drive unit, allowing the computer not only to read file information, but also to listen to music CDs.

Of course, not everyone needs to buy, say, a radio with a CD player or a music center, already having a good amplifier or other reproducing equipment. For those who want to acquire such a player with minimal material costs, I recommend purchasing CD-ROM drives, which, as already noted, are suitable for playing music CDs. When choosing such a unit, keep in mind that high-speed drives, although more expensive, do not have any advantages when playing conventional audio CDs.

Recently, CD-ROM drives have been sold that have two "Play" buttons and a button for ejecting the tray. Moreover, they perform additional functions: pressing the "Play" button again during CD playback allows you to switch to listening to the next musical composition, and the button for extending the tray during playback performs the "Pause" function. If there is only one button on the drive unit - to pull out the tray, then after loading the CD, the playback mode automatically turns on. There are also remote control CD-ROM drives, but they are relatively expensive.

CD-ROM as an Audio-CD player

An example of the placement of connectors on the rear panel of one of these devices is shown in the figure. All you need to do when using the CD player is to connect the power and connect it to the amplifier. The power supply must have two stabilized output voltages: +12 V and +5 V. The current consumed by the drive is usually indicated in the passport or on the case. On the front panel there is a jack for connecting stereo phones, on the back there is an analog output connector (ANALOG AUDIO) with an output signal amplitude of up to 1 V. A two-wire shielded cable with an appropriate connector for connecting to an amplifier is connected to it.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Robots will build a giant telescope on the moon 08.04.2020

NASA scientists have proposed building a gigantic radio telescope one kilometer in diameter inside a crater on the far side of the Moon.

According to the idea, robotic lunar rovers will stretch a wire mesh in the crater, their own diameter is larger than the diameter of the telescope and can reach five kilometers. An overhead receiver will be installed in the center. The whole process can be automated and does not require the participation of human operators.

The Lunar Crater Radio Telescope (LCRT) could be used to observe radio waves that cannot be detected from the earth's surface due to interference from the ionosphere and numerous sources of radio noise. If NASA's plans become a reality, the LCRT will be the largest filled aperture antenna in the solar system. Such an antenna is a concave dish that focuses the signal from the observed object on the receiver.

LCRT would cover a wavelength range of 10-50 meters (6-30 megahertz frequency band), which has not yet been used for observations. This would make it possible to make the latest scientific discoveries in the field of cosmology of the early Universe.
