I propose a more practical type of helical antenna in use, which replaces the whip helical antenna 16 - 18 cm long. The "without antenna" radio station, in addition to its unusual appearance, will be very compact. The antenna was made in the form of a frame of glued strips of plexiglass to the size of the radio station body as a continuation of it in the upper part, as shown in the figure.

Spiral antenna. Spiral Antenna Option

The antenna frame is glued to the body of the radio and can be of various sizes depending on the size of your radio. With a frame height of 25 mm, winding with a wire of 0,3 - 0,5 mm should be started at a distance of 5 mm from the body. This place will make it possible to more accurately adjust the antenna by shifting the coils. Winding is carried out until the frame is filled in one layer. After tuning, the coils are covered with BF-2 glue and closed on top with a cap made of glued strips of plastic 1–1,5 mm thick, so that the cap does not differ in size from the body of the radio station. You can attach the cap from above to the body of the radio station with an M2,5-MZ screw in the middle of the antenna.

To tune during transmission, while controlling the level of radiation with the S-meter of another radio station, we smoothly bring our hand to the antenna. If the readings of the S-meter start to decrease, we unwind and bite off 1 turn of the antenna and continue on like this. After some time, bringing the fingers to the antenna, we notice that the S-meter readings first increase and then decrease as the hand approaches the antenna further. This means that we have approached the resonance of the antenna. We perform further adjustment by smoothly pushing the antenna turns along the frame and achieving the maximum readings of the S-meter.

If at the very beginning of the tuning, when the hand approaches the antenna, an increase in the readings of the S-meter is observed, then few turns are wound and it is necessary to rewind with a thinner wire in order to get more turns on the same frame. The same method is suitable for tuning any kind of helical antennas.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Mirrorless camera Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 19.05.2015

Panasonic introduced the Lumix DMC-G7 mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. The novelty has replenished the family of devices of the Micro Four Thirds standard. The camera is endowed with a 17,3 x 13 mm CMOS sensor with 16 million effective pixels and a powerful Venus Engine image processor. The 3-inch tilt-and-turn display with touch control makes it easy to take self-portraits and work in conditions where the camera has to be held below or above eye level.

The light sensitivity is ISO 160-25600, the shutter speed range is 1/4000-60 s. Materials are stored on SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. There is a stereo microphone, a USB 2.0 port and an HDMI interface.

The camera supports ultra-high definition video recording in 4K format with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (30, 25, 24, 20 frames per second). In addition, Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) video recording at up to 60 frames per second is possible.

Model Lumix DMC-G7 allows you to take sequential photos in maximum resolution at a speed of 7 frames per second. 4K Burst Shooting lets you capture a virtually unlimited number of 4K photos while holding down the shutter button. 4K Pre-burst mode allows you to capture 60 4K images before/after you press the shutter button. In this case, you can choose between four resolutions: 3840 x 2160 (16:9 aspect ratio), 3328 x 2496 (4:3), 3504 x 2336 (3:2) or 2880 x 2880 (1:1) pixels.

The camera is equipped with a fast autofocus system, an electronic viewfinder with 100% frame coverage and a Wi-Fi wireless adapter. Dimensions are 125 x 86 x 77 mm, weight - 410 grams.

The Lumix DMC-G7 will be available for an estimated price of $800 with a 14-42mm lens or $1100 with a 14-140mm lens.
