In the presence of flashing LEDs, you can assemble garlands from ordinary LEDs and small-sized incandescent lamps that will flash randomly.

The first device (Fig. 5) consists of ten groups, in each of which the garland is made of sequentially connected flashing LEDs (EL1, EL11, EL21, etc.) and ordinary ones. Therefore, when the garlands are connected to a power source, the LEDs will flash and go out simultaneously with their blinking LED. This happens because when you turn on, for example, the EL1 LED, a current of about 10 mA will flow through it and the rest of the LEDs of the group - it is determined by the supply voltage, the number of LEDs in the group and the resistance of the resistor R1. All LEDs in the group will be lit.

When the flashing LED turns off, the rest of the LEDs will turn off. And this will happen in every group.

In the manufacture of this garland, it is better to use flashing LEDs of different colors of glow and different types, so that the frequency of flashing of each group in the garland is different. Then the effect of pseudo-chaoticity will be created. The number of conventional LEDs must be defined - depending on their type and supply voltage. For example, at 12 V, the number of LEDs can be from 9 to 12. To more accurately determine the maximum allowable number of LEDs, you should measure the operating voltage of each LED used. And for this you will have to assemble a kind of probe (Fig. 6). By connecting the EL1 LED to it, the current is set to 1 mA with a variable resistor R10 in the circuit and the voltage drop across the LED is measured.

Having thus measured the luminous voltage of the LEDs of all applied series and colors (one from each series), it is possible to determine the number of LEDs in each group. The total voltage of the LEDs should be approximately 5 V (flashing LED voltage) less than the supply voltage. Finally, the current through the LEDs of each group is set within 9 ... 12mA by selecting the appropriate limiting resistor (R1 - R10). It should be noted that the difference between the supply voltage and the voltage drop across all ordinary LEDs of the group must not exceed the maximum allowable voltage of the blinking LED (usually 9...12 V).

As flashing LEDs, you can use V621-V623, L-36BHD, L-56, L-616, L-796, L-819, etc. The rest of the LEDs are any domestic or imported, with different glow colors, but preferably the brightest.

The following design (Fig. 7) also uses the properties of flashing LEDs, but they control groups of garlands made up of small incandescent lamps. For example, five groups are shown, although there may be more or less.

Consider the principle of operation of one of the groups, say, the top one according to the scheme. When the blinking LED HL1 is working, rectangular pulses are formed on its anode. Through the resistor R2 and trimmer R3, they enter the base of a powerful composite transistor VT1. When the LED flashes, the transistor opens, the lamps EL1 - EL10 connected in series are lit. When the LED goes out, the transistor closes, the lamps go out. The rest of the groups work similarly.

As in the previous design, the LEDs can be of different colors from the types indicated. Power supply - any, designed for the specified voltage and total current through the lamp chains. With the specified supply voltage, it is permissible to use lamps for a voltage of 2,5 V and a current of 0,15 - 0,25 A in each chain. LEDs can be placed on the front panel of the case for a visual demonstration of the operation of the switch. Transistors - any of the series indicated on the diagram.

Establishing the machine comes down to setting clear thresholds for opening and closing transistors with appropriate tuning resistors.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Secret microwave 11.11.2016

The secret X-37 space plane has been performing orbital flights since 2010. Over the past six years, information about it has not increased, although the US Air Force has already launched four “Test Orbital Vehicles” (Orbital Test Vehicle) from the X-37B series, with the last one launched on 20 May 2015 seems to be flying like that. "It seems to be" because there has not yet been confirmation of the landing, and the scarcely received information suggests the opposite.

According to unnamed sources, one of the experiments currently underway on board the X-37B is testing a microwave space engine with a magnetron and an Emdrive resonator chamber. We wrote several times about this invention that violates the laws of physics.

English engineer Roger Shawyer, who came up with the Emdrive, recently filed a patent for yet another improved version of the engine, and NASA has just published its own test results showing that the device that converts electrical energy into thrust without a propellant actually works, albeit contrary to the law of conservation of momentum. Scheuer himself confirmed in October of this year that the US and British Defense Ministries have long been interested in his invention.

So it is likely that Emdrive flies on the X-37B, especially since, as again unidentified sources indicate, the Chinese space station Tiangong-2, located next door, is also testing the same microwave engine created by Chinese scientists according to image and likeness (and how else) of English.

Researchers from the Northwest Polytechnic Institute in Xian built their version of the engine back in 2008, and in 2012-2014. published a series of articles confirming its performance. True, after that they found out that an error was made in the calculations due to the power cable, and their equipment was not sensitive enough to determine the developed traction. (As mentioned above, NASA specialists did this this year).
