Current sources can be connected to a battery in two ways: parallel and series. How to connect current sources in the first way is shown in fig. 5.

Power source connections
Rice. 5. Parallel connection of current sources

RџSЂRё parallel connection of current sources connect all positive and all negative poles together. The voltage on an open battery will be equal to the voltage on each individual source, that is, with a parallel connection method, the EMF of the battery is equal to the EMF of one source.

The resistance of the battery when the sources are connected in parallel will be less than the resistance of one element, because in this case their conductivities are summed up.

RџSЂRё series connection of current sources (Fig. 6) two adjacent sources are interconnected by opposite poles.

Power source connections
Rice. 6. Serial connection of current sources

The potential difference between the positive pole of the last source and the negative pole of the first will be equal to the sum of the potential differences between the poles of each source. It follows from this that when connected in series, the EMF of the battery is equal to the sum of the EMF of the sources included in the battery.

The total resistance of the battery when the sources are connected in series is equal to the sum of the internal resistances of the individual elements.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

Self-learning brain for smartphones and tablets 29.11.2013

Qualcomm wants to make smartphones and tablets even smarter. The company is preparing a series of Zeroth chips that mimic the activity of the human brain in their work. Paul Jacobs, CEO of the company, spoke about this at a speech to shareholders in New York.

The processor will be able to adapt to a specific user. Zeroth will memorize the owner's preferences and characteristics of his behavior in order not only to fulfill his instructions, but to anticipate desires. "This is the beginning of an era of devices that are smart," Jacobs said. "It's a research project, but it really works."

The chip is built around neural systems that mimic the structure of the brain and work according to certain schemes and algorithms. The main advantages of Zeroth are its high energy efficiency and ability to learn. At the same time, the computational capabilities of Zeroth depend on its size. So for smartphones, the "brain" will be physically smaller than for tablets.

Qualcomm has already shown a robot based on the Zeroth chip that could make the right decision based on incoming information. Thus, the chip is a big step forward, since the program laid down by a person will simply not be needed for the processor to work.

"Instead of pre-programming behavior and results with a lot of code, we have developed a set of software tools that allow devices to learn how they work and receive feedback from their environment," Samir Kumar wrote in his blog. Kumar, director of business development at Qualcomm.
