Photo 1 shows the idle speed controller disassembled. Immediately make a reservation that the disassembly of the IAC should be done with some caution. Otherwise, there is a high probability of permanently disabling it. In order to disassemble the IAC, you need to remove three fixing pins from its body. After that, with a little effort, remove the connector housing so as not to damage the wires and their soldering.

Malfunctions of the idle speed regulator of the automobile engine

One of the malfunctions that I had to deal with was an internal wire break (see photo-2).

After soldering the conductor detached from the contact, the normal operation of the IAC was restored. It should be noted that the place of soldering after repair should be washed with alcohol and varnished in order to further exclude possible corrosion of this contact. Alas, this is perhaps the simplest malfunction of the idle speed controller, which is easy to fix without any problems. It is much more difficult to deal with other malfunctions and most often the IAC must be replaced with a new one. These malfunctions include the development of guides for the conical needle and / or its drive. There are special grooves on the conical needle that enter the guide bushings (see photos 3 and 4).

The guides of this bushing tend to wear out. As a result, the conical needle begins to rotate in this sleeve, which makes it impossible to move the needle forward. Accordingly, the normal operation of the engine at idle is disrupted, because. it is with these translational movements that the cone needle opens or closes the additional air supply channel bypassing the closed throttle valve. The development of a conical needle drive leads to a similar situation. Unfortunately, I was not able to take high-quality photos with my camera due to focusing problems.

In conclusion, it should be recalled that before installing the IAC in its place, it is necessary to correctly set the initial position of the conical needle. There should be 23mm between the IAC flange and the end point of the needle (see photo 5).

This gap is necessary so that when installing the IAC, its conical needle cannot rest against the seat on the throttle body. The gap is set using a special multi-tester or a control pulse shaper for the idle speed controller. In addition, the O-ring on the IAC mounting flange should be lubricated with engine oil. Installation and connection of the idle speed controller connector should be carried out with the ignition off.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Super sensitive e-skin 17.05.2013

American physicists have created an electronic "skin" that is not inferior in strength and flexibility to its biological counterpart and has an ultra-high sensitivity to touch and vibration, which allows it to be used as a pulse sensor or the basis for tactile sensors of robots.

Over the past five years, scientists have been continuously working on the creation of a material that mimics human skin in its properties. In some cases, they have achieved significant success. So, in November 2012, a group of physicists led by Zhenan Bao (Zhenan Bao) from Stanford University created a super-flexible material that can act as the basis for synthetic skin.

In the new work, Bao and her colleagues improved the "skin", increasing its sensitivity to touch and vibration by several hundred times. To do this, scientists embedded flexible transistors into the skin from pieces of semi-conducting silicon-organic polymers connected to each other by microscopic gold electrodes. The special "braided" design allows them to withstand repeated stretching and bending without damage.

These transistors have the curious property that their electrical conductivity changes when pressure is applied. Experimenting with pieces of electronic skin, the authors of the article selected such voltage and current parameters at which the device responded to even the slightest changes in pressure.

The scientists used their invention to create a highly sensitive heart rate sensor that is no thicker than a medical patch. According to physicists, their invention has a record for today's sensitivity. It is about 150 times more responsive to touch than other polymer sensors, and 20 times superior to the "champion" in this area - conductive rubber. This makes it possible to use this material for the manufacture of medical microsensors and "skin" for pressure sensors on the limbs of robots.
