The car radiator must contain enough water. If the driver does not notice a significant decrease in water in the radiator in a timely manner, the engine will overheat.

The device for monitoring the water level in the radiator (see diagram) has the advantage over similar devices that when it is used, electrolysis does not occur, leading to the gradual destruction of the radiator walls. The use of silicon transistors makes the device less sensitive to significant temperature changes.

Car radiator water level indicator

The basis of the device is a multivibrator with one stable state on transistors T2 and T3. Its load is signal lamp L7. Transistor T4 contributes to a clearer fixation of the operating state (open - closed) of transistor T2.

When the probe in the radiator is immersed in water, a bias voltage is applied to the base of the transistor T1 and it is open. In this case, the base and emitter of the transistor T2 have the same potential and this transistor will be closed. As a result, the multivibrator does not work, and the signal lamp L1 is de-energized. Diode D1 protects the base of transistor T2 from overvoltages.

When the water level in the radiator drops, the dipstick is in the air. As a result, the transistor T1 closes, and T2 opens. Now the multivibrator will operate at a frequency determined by the time constant of the R4 C1 chain (about 2 Hz). Signal lamp L1 will flash at the same frequency, attracting the attention of the driver.

Capacitor C1 must be made of paper, since during operation the polarity of the charge on it reverses. The probe is made of stainless steel, and the probe plug is made of plastic with a high melting point. For these purposes, you can use nylon, fluoroplastic or lavsan.

Only silicon transistors and diodes should be used in the device. For example, transistors T1, T2 can be taken as MP116, T3 - KT602 and T4 - KT315 with any letter index. Diode type D103 or D106 with any letter index.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The Vaccine Mystery 04.10.2016

The flu vaccine reduces the risk of stroke in diabetics but increases it in heart patients.

It would seem that the flu is weakly associated with a stroke or heart attack: everyone knows that if you endure a cold on your feet, you can get an unpleasant complication, but if you follow the doctor's requirements, it is unlikely. However, modern medical statistics allows you to look for completely non-obvious connections between events. So, researchers from London's King's College, led by Dr. Esther Vamo, worked with British statistics for 2003-2010 and chose among patients those who suffer from type 2 diabetes. There are more than 123 thousand such patients in the database.

Analysis of the data showed that annual flu vaccination reduced their risk of heart attack and stroke by 22% and 30%, respectively. Moreover, the mortality among them was 24% less. From the flu, protection worked worse - the number of visits to the clinic for influenza and pneumonia decreased by 15%.

What does it mean to get vaccinated against the flu to protect yourself from a stroke or heart attack? There is a pitfall here, noticed by the same researchers: the vaccine has a miraculous effect only on diabetics. And in the cores, the vaccine, on the contrary, increases the risks. The answer to the question why this happens, the doctors do not.
