It is known that most often incandescent lamps burn out at the moment of switching on. This is due to the fact that a cold filament has a low resistance, about 10 times less than that of a heated lamp filament. Consequently, at the moment of switching on, the current through the filament, respectively, is 10 times greater than in the stationary mode. The headlight lamp filament with a rated current of 5 A heats up in 0,03 s. Since the diameter of the filament is not the same in length, thinner places heat up faster. And since the temperature of the conductor is inversely proportional to the fourth power of the diameter, it is clear how much overheating occurs in thin places. This is what causes the thread to burn out.

What to do? First, it is necessary to carry out the filament with high accuracy in diameter. This is the business of lamp manufacturers, but they are not at all interested in an “eternal lamp.” Then you need to turn on the lamp, limiting the starting current.

The most simple, and therefore reliable and cheap circuit is proposed (Fig. 1), on which FU is a regular fuse; SA - switch; K1 - relay with normally open contact K 1.1; R1 - resistor, it is also an inertial fuse; HL1 - incandescent lamp.

Filament protector for headlight bulbs

The scheme works as follows. After SA is closed, the voltage at point "a" increases as the HL1 lamp warms up. Since the resistance R1 is approximately 2...3 times greater than the resistance of the cold thread, the starting current is also approximately 2...3 times less. When the voltage at point "a" reaches the trigger voltage of relay K1, contact K1.1 closes and the lamp is connected to the current source completely. Resistor R1 is selected so that in the event of a relay failure or a short circuit in the lamp circuit, it will burn out. The heating time of the conductor of the resistor R1 before burnout is chosen 10 times longer than the heating time of the lamp, i.e. 0,3 s

To turn on the high and low beam headlight lamps, it is recommended to make two lamp switching blocks, introducing two standard relays and one resistor into them, as shown in Fig. 2, where K1 is a shunt relay; K2 - headlight relay.

The device for switching on the lamps is made in the form of a block and is placed either directly in the headlight block or near the headlight blocks one at a time.

The circuit solution is protected by RF patent 2156044 dated 04.06.98/XNUMX/XNUMX.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Trade-in to Samsung wearables 09.12.2019

Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of the smart accessories trade-in program, under which, when returning used wearable devices, including fitness bracelets and mechanical watches, the user can purchase new models of "smart watches" with a discount of up to 19,5, XNUMX thousand rubles

You can make a trade-in purchase at Samsung branded stores. The new Galaxy Watch Active2 models are available for purchase at the start of the program in both 40mm and 44mm steel and aluminum cases. With the release of new products next year, the list of devices that can be purchased at a discount when returning an old gadget will expand.

The latest generation wearables trade-in program will allow more consumers to solve the problem of recycling old devices, as well as purchase the latest model of a wearable device at a discount.

The benefit on the Galaxy Watch Active2 depends on the model purchased and on the condition of the gadget that the buyer rents. The maximum rating of the device is given in the "Excellent" condition, which implies the absence of visible traces of use, as well as the operation of all buttons and body elements. For ransom, including devices with traces of use with scratches, chips, dents, notches, scuffs are accepted.

Accurate information on the cost of buying a used device, depending on its condition, the buyer can receive directly at the point of sale.
