This article describes a windshield wiper regulator for a car that allows you to change the frequency of movements of the wiper blades.

Technical characteristics of the device:

  • operating mode - continuous or variable with a period of 1 to 30 s;
  • supply voltage - 12 ± 3 V; l power consumption - no more than 100 mA.

On fig. 1 shows a schematic diagram of the device. An ultra-low frequency generator is assembled on the DA1 integrated timer chip of the K1006VI1 type, operating with an oscillation period of 1 to 30 s. Resistor R1 sets the required oscillation frequency, and resistor R2 selects the maximum frequency.

In general, the oscillation frequency is determined by the chain R1, R2, R3, C1. Capacitor C2 prevents self-excitation of the microcircuit. At the output of the microcircuit, rectangular pulses are formed. On fig. 2 shows the timing diagrams of the signal at the control point CT1. Depending on the position of the regulator of the resistor R2, the duty cycle of the pulses changes. Diodes VD1, VD2 protect the chip from failure. Relay K1 must have a DC winding resistance of at least 150 ohms and powerful output terminals.

Switch S1 allows you to block the circuit and turn on the wiper for permanent operation. Relay contacts K 1.1 switch the electric motor.

The given circuit has two drawbacks: firstly, the microcircuit operates at limiting modes, and secondly, relay K1 has a rather low reliability.

Using a transistor VT1 type KT827 or KT829 (Fig. 3), you can significantly increase the reliability of the circuit. Resistor R5 limits the base current, and diode VD3 cleans the transistor from breakdown. Transistor VT1 can be replaced by a transistor pair VT2, VT3, assembled according to the circuit of a composite transistor (Fig. 4).

Correctly assembled from serviceable parts, the circuit does not need to be adjusted. The only thing that needs to be done is, with the resistor R1 closed, select the required maximum oscillation frequency with the resistor R2. Resistor R1 is displayed on the control panel.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

A new method of photosynthesis will help solve the problem of hunger 16.08.2017

Despite the opponents of GMO technologies and synthetic food, scientists have already created meat that is literally grown in a test tube. And it's already on the market. And researchers at the University of Illinois have modified plant photosynthesis to increase yields with less water and fertilizer.

So far, experiments are underway with tobacco, its growth has been accelerated by 20%. Next in line are other agricultural crops. As noted, this will help defeat hunger on the planet.

Modified tobacco seeds process sunlight and carbon dioxide better, which results in a larger yield. As noted, in order to solve the problem of hunger on the planet, by 2050, worldwide yields must increase by 50%.

Funding for the project comes from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, although it has not yet been announced when the modified crops will hit the market.
