Transformerless push-pull amplifier Mammoth-1 built on the ideas of Ralph Karsten's Atma-Sphere M-60 amplifiers, atma-sphere.com/m60.htm. The circlotron is very simple!

As they came up with in the mid-50s, they still do it today. The only voltage amplification stage, it is also a phase inverter (differential cascode for 6H8C) + cathode follower + circlotron output for eight 6H13C (mode Ua = 150V, Ia = 70mA, Ug = -65V - what anode trances got). One pair of separating containers.

The gain of the input stage is 26.0 on the left, 25.8 on the right shoulder. At 1V at the input at an 8-ohm load, the voltage is 15V (about 30W power), this is just the border of the A-AB class. I have not tried to measure power in the AB class "for slaughter" yet - bring your light bulbs, we'll check it. A change from the original - Allen Wright's cathode follower - the V5 lamp operates with constant current (source on V6) and at constant anode-cathode voltage (follower on V4, highlighted in red).

The components are all ordinary, a lot of used parts from the Tsaritsyno market (transmissions TPP311, TA262, TN40, TA23, Nichicon 10.000x200V capacities), signal capacitors MBM - the entire budget was within less than 250 ye per monoblock, of this amount 3/4 is the power supply. With custom trans will be more expensive. Still, 700W overall power... By the way!!! In the entire batch of Svetlanov 6N13S 1977, the filament current turned out to be not 2.8A but 3.0-3.3A. Gift...

The amplifier is arranged as a three-storey one on an H-shaped wooden (solid beech) chassis. Transoms (bottom) and containers (top) live on the crossbar of the letter H, and instead of a lid there is a getinax plate with lamps.

The delay relay for turning on the anode power supply of the driver (T1=60s) and the output (T2=T1+15s) is a traditional Claus design on the TL431. The power supply of the driver - with a stone (albeit hexfred) rectifier - does not suit me. It's time to switch to kenotrons.

Power output lamps - almost everything as in transistor amplifiers. Those. capacities are the same (2x13300 microfarads), and the voltage is 200V. Expensive pleasure

When switching the windings of the rod trance "in the mind" (Fig. A), the output signal bandwidth was limited to 70 kHz (-3dB). It turned out that the interwinding capacitance of the trance plays. I switched the secondary circuits "as it should not" (Fig. B) - and the band is now 7Hz-100kHz (-1dB. Further - the generator was not enough, it is still low-frequency ...). The trans doesn't sound like it.

In addition to the control ammeter, the Mammoth also has a shoulder balance null indicator (connected to the output terminals)

That's how it started. 3mm copper cathode busbars are soldered directly into the acoustic clamps. Hinged mounting on the support petals, signal jumpers made of 0.8 mm copper core. Colored containers - MBM (so that no one would guess). For the convenience of debugging, I made the top board removable, power is supplied by RP10 connectors.

Here are the main power capacities - Nichicon 10,000 * 200V. Does it inspire?

Transformerless push-pull amplifier Mammoth-1

And this is how it looked when debugging. It's not big (but heavy...)...

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Radio dishes in canteens 06.03.2007

One of the German manufacturers of porcelain tableware has launched the production of plates and cups with an integrated microcircuit, which in self-service canteens, when a customer approaches the cash register, radios the names and prices of the selected dishes and drinks to the cash register.

Microcircuits are programmed when laying out dishes on plates. A plate or cup, outwardly no different from the usual, can withstand at least one hundred thousand cycles of use with washing in the dishwasher. The temperature of drinks or dishes can reach up to 85 degrees Celsius, but you can not put such dishes in a microwave oven - the microcircuits will burn out.

Daimler-Chrysler installed the new system in its canteen, and the lines at the distribution disappeared.
