Here are the recipes compositions of casein paints.

Fresh casein mass from sour milk is boiled for 15 minutes in an enameled or glazed dish, placed on a sieve and washed well with hard water (rich in lime salts). The casein treated in this way is placed in linen napkins and pressed to remove the bulk of the water.

To slightly wet casein is added 25% burnt lime, which has previously been quenched with triple the amount of water. Mineral paints ground in oil are added to the resulting mass. The paint is suitable for coloring stone, gypsum, zinc, etc. If it is applied to wood, then some more oil is added. If the paint is too thick, it can be thinned with water or oil.

1st recipe:

Freshly precipitated casein 8 wt. hours;
Burnt lime 17 wt. hours;
Burnt gypsum 7 wt. hours;
Lead white 6 wt. h.

The lime is quenched with water and mixed on a stone slab with casein. Next, gypsum and white lead are added. The resulting mass is ground in a stone grater with the addition of water until a porridge-like mass is obtained. For work, the mass is diluted with water. The resulting solution must be immediately put into action, since the mass in the air easily seizes and becomes unusable. This method gives an extremely durable cover.

2st recipe:

Romanovsky cement 1 wt. hours;
Elutriated fine sand 2 wt. hours;
Burnt gypsum 1 wt. hours;
Skimmed milk 0,75 wt. h.

Thoroughly mix all parts; before use, it is necessary to mix thoroughly again, otherwise the sand will sit on the bottom. Materials are taken in the amount required per hour of work. The paint dries quickly in the summer and is as strong as stone. The painted layer can be covered with drying oil or a weak solution of ordinary casein paint.
