Since cooking drying oil requires a special boiler and is dangerous in terms of fire, we present how to make linseed oil without cooking.

For 20 weight parts of linseed oil, 1 part of litharge (lead oxide) and 1 part of lead sugar (acetic acid oxide of lead) are taken. Lead sugar is dissolved in a small amount of water. At room temperature, 2 parts of water will be required, and if you take hot water, then much less. Half of the litharge is added to the lead sugar solution and the mixture is shaken. The remaining dose of litharge is diligently dissolved with a small amount of linseed oil.

When the litharge is dissolved in the oil, add the rest of the linseed oil to it and continue to stir, then add the above-mentioned mixture of lead sugar and carefully, for about 2 hours, stir, after which the mixture is allowed to settle. The oil will float to the top, and water with lead salts dissolved in it will settle below. Then the oil is drained and filtered through a cloth. It turns out a light, transparent drying oil, somewhat more liquid than boiled.

Such drying oil always contains a small amount of lead salts, which are undesirable for light paints and oil varnishes, since lead tends to darken over time. This is explained by the fact that lead combines with hydrogen sulfide.

To remove lead from drying oil, proceed as follows: take a 25% solution of sulfuric acid, pour it into drying oil and stir for half an hour. At first, drying oil becomes cloudy and takes on a milky hue, but soon it becomes transparent again, and lead salts settle to the bottom.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Mercedes smart car watch 05.01.2014

German automaker Mercedes-Benz has announced a computerized watch capable of interacting with its cars. Pebble Technology, a well-known participant in the wearable electronics market, took part in the creation of the device. Mercedes-Benz will show its "smart" watches to the general public in early January 2014. The presentation will take place as part of the CES 2014 exhibition in Las Vegas.

With the help of the presented device, drivers will be able to remotely receive information about the location of their cars and the amount of remaining fuel in the tank, so that you can plan your trip in advance. The device will also let you know if the doors in the car are closed.

In addition, useful functions are provided directly for driving. With the help of the Mercedes Digital DriveStyle online app, the smartwatch will vibrate to warn you about traffic jams, road repairs, accidents and other situations that you need to prepare for in advance. The gadget receives information from other road users based on V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) communications.

Similar technologies for interacting with machines have previously been demonstrated by other automakers. For example, Ford Motor Company uses them to warn drivers about emergency braking. ABI Research analysts predict that by 2027, about 62% of new vehicles will be equipped with V2V technologies.

Mercedes-Benz does not intend to create a completely proprietary gadget infrastructure around the car. Earlier it was reported that the machines of this manufacturer will receive integration with a third-party wearable mini-computer Google Glass. These smart glasses are supposed to provide door-to-door navigation that will provide direction guidance not only to the car, but also to the pedestrian driver once they leave the vehicle.
