I. General Provisions

  1. The design engineer belongs to the category of specialists.
  2. For the position:
  • A design engineer is appointed by a person who has a higher professional education without submitting work experience requirements or secondary vocational education and work experience in design organizations for at least 5 years;
  • Design engineer of category III - a person with higher professional education and experience working in design organizations;
  • Design engineer of category II - a person with a higher professional education and work experience in engineering and technical positions, replaced by specialists with a higher professional education, of at least 2 years;
  • Design engineer of category I - a person who has a higher professional education and work experience as a design engineer of category II for at least 2 years.
  1. Appointment to the position of design engineer and dismissal from it are made by order of the director of the organization upon presentation.
  2. The design engineer must know:
  • methods of designing and conducting technical and economic calculations;
  • principles of operation, technologies for manufacturing and installation of equipment and structures, types and properties of materials;
  • resolutions, instructions, orders of higher and other bodies, methodological and regulatory materials on the design, construction and operation of facilities;
  • standards, technical specifications and other constituent materials for the development and execution of design and estimate documentation;
  • technical means of design and construction;
  • fundamentals of patenting;
  • advanced domestic and foreign experience in design and construction;
  • technical, economic and social requirements for objects are designed;
  • organization of labor and production;
  • rules and regulations of labor protection.
  1. The Design Engineer reports directly to the Deputy Director - GIP.

II. Official duties

Design engineer:

  1. Based on the latest scientific and technical achievements, advanced domestic and foreign experience in the design, construction and operation of facilities and the use of design automation tools, develops individual departments (parts) of the project.
  2. Participates in the preparation of assignments for the development of design solutions.
  3. Collects initial data for design, in resolving technical issues for assigned facilities throughout the entire period of construction design, commissioning of the facility and development of design capacities.
  4. Links the adopted design decisions with design decisions for other sections (parts of the project).
  5. Conducts patent research to ensure the patent purity of new design solutions and patentability.
  6. Ensures compliance of developed and technical documentation with standards, technical requirements and other regulatory documents for design and construction, as well as the assignment for their development.
  7. Provides designer's supervision over the construction of designed facilities and advises on issues within his competence.
  8. Participates in the analysis and generalization of the experience of developing projects and their implementation in construction and, on this basis, prepares proposals on the advisability of adjusting the adopted general and fundamental design decisions.
  9. Participates in the preparation of applications for inventions, the preparation of conclusions and reviews on rationalization proposals, draft standards, specifications and other regulatory documents, in the work of seminars and conferences.

III. Rights

The design engineer has the right to:

  1. Get acquainted with the draft decisions of the organization's management regarding its activities.
  2. Make proposals for improving the work related to the responsibilities provided for in this instruction.
  3. Within the limits of his competence, report to his immediate supervisor about all the shortcomings identified in the course of his activities and make proposals for their elimination.
  4. Request personally or on behalf of the management of the organization from the departments of the organization and other specialists information and documents necessary for the performance of their duties.
  5. Involve specialists from all (individual structural divisions) in solving the tasks assigned to it (if this is provided for by the regulations on structural divisions, if not, then with the permission of the head of the organization).
  6. Require the management of the enterprise to assist in the performance of their duties and rights.

IV. A responsibility

The design engineer is responsible

  1. For improper performance or non-performance of their official duties provided for by this Job Description - within the limits determined by the current labor legislation of Ukraine.
  2. For offenses committed in the course of carrying out their activities - within the limits determined by the current administrative, criminal and civil legislation of Ukraine.
  3. For causing material damage - within the limits determined by the current labor and civil legislation of Ukraine.
