MODELING
Aircraft all-around. Tips for a modeler Directory / Radio control equipment All-around RC model gliders (class F-3-B), which includes three flight events, is the youngest type of flying model competition. These are flights for duration, range and speed. The place in the competition is determined by the sum of the results of the three exercises shown in two flight rounds. In competitions, an athlete can use two models: it is allowed to rearrange parts from one to another, however, the weight of the model and the maximum area of \u5b\u150bthe bearing surface should not exceed 2 kg and 12 dm75, respectively, and the load on the area should not exceed 2 and XNUMX g/dmXNUMX. The rules allow changing the geometry of surfaces in flight using radio control, but the transmission of information from the aircraft to the pilot is prohibited. Models are launched on a rail, while the movement of the assistant modeler involved in towing should not exceed 150 m. Climbing can also be carried out with the help of an engine, for every 1 cm3 of the working volume of which (but not more than 2 cm3) there must be at least 100 g of the take-off weight of the model. Additional ballast may also be used. Engine run time is limited to 45 s. To perform the flight duration exercise, the modeler is given 8 minutes of working time at the start. The countdown of the flight time begins from the moment the handrail is uncoupled (or the engine of the motor glider stops). Every second in the air is worth one point. The maximum number of them is 360. For a flight over 6 minutes, the modeler receives one penalty point for each extra second in the air (up to zero). The fit accuracy of the model is also evaluated. Points are awarded for its accuracy according to the formula n = 100 - 5*(L - 1), where L is the distance of the touchdown point from the landing mark in meters. The distance between the touch point of the glider and the ground from the landing mark should not exceed 15 m. For landing at a greater distance or after 8 minutes of working time, zero points are given. The total result of the flight for duration is estimated by the formula: N1 = 0,75*(t + n), where t is the flight duration score, n is the landing accuracy score, N is the total number of points. For the flight range exercise, 8 minutes of working time are given. It is carried out at the base between two start lines A and B located in parallel at a distance of 150 m. At the moment of crossing line A in the planning mode, the flight time begins (it is 4 minutes). During this period, the model should make the greatest number of flights between lines A and B, more precisely, imaginary vertical planes above them. If the model aircraft lands between lines A and B during the flight time, then the distance traveled is added to the base. The flight range result is estimated in points according to the formula: N2 = 0,25*L, where L is the distance that the model flew during the scoring minutes. The speed exercise is performed within 5 minutes of working time. The model aircraft must fly the base from line A to line B and back in the minimum time. The time-of-flight countdown is recorded with an accuracy of 0,1 s. Landing place is arbitrary. High-speed flight rating is determined by the formula: N3 = 5,5 * v, where v is the flight speed in km/h. The all-around championship is evaluated by the sum of points: N1 + N2 + N3.
When creating a model to meet such conflicting requirements as the maximum duration and speed of flight, athletes face certain technical difficulties. Nevertheless, this new class of radio-controlled model gliders has recently become quite popular among Soviet athletes.
