SIEMENS M35i. Mobile phone overview Review In a small box with a picture of the device, I found: a charger, two instructions, a separately packed battery, a key to unlock the back cover and a set of rubber plugs for the connectors. As already mentioned, there are two instructions: Quick Start - a quick dive into the most necessary features of the device and a guide for installing the battery and SIM card, as well as User Guide - a complete instruction in Russian. The Siemens M35i is, in fact, the well-known C35i "packed" in a shockproof, dustproof case. It is the adaptability of work in "field" conditions that determines the presence in the delivery set of such pleasant trifles as rubber plugs. They are designed to protect the inside of the phone from water, dust or small specks. One of the plugs is put on the input for an external antenna, and the other plugs the connector for the power supply plug. An even more pleasant surprise is that the rubber plugs do not go one at a time, as is customary, but with the expectation of their loss, i.e. there are a few spares. Although they sit in their grooves very firmly, they are not attached to the body of the device (as, for example, in some Samsung models). There are several color options for the phone: Hurricane Yellow, Half Pipe Blue, and Summit Grey. The first option is the most common, as evidenced by its image on the box. By the way, in some small stores that sell "gray" or decoded Hurricane Yellow devices, the variant costs $5-10 cheaper. This is due to the less popularity of this color among buyers and the more favorable pricing policy of the operator, under which the pipes are gilded. Although, in my opinion, the yellow and blue version is more elegant, and is perfect for the fair sex. Yes, recently, Siemens went even further and released colors focused on football fans - they put pipes in football jerseys of Milan, Juventus, Lazio, Internazionale, Borussia and Bayern clubs, the main sponsor of which is Siemens. It is not difficult to check whether the phone is locked under any operator, as well as its coding / decoding. To do this, you just need to dial (after removing the SIM card) * # 0606 #, press the largest button, and the right elongated one (info). If the inscription Unbarred appears in all five lines, you are in luck. Otherwise (most often there are numbers or letters in the second or third line), a craftsman tried on this device, and the guarantee for it suspects a replacement at best. Similarly, by typing *#06# you can find out the firmware version (current today is No. 18). This does not mean that the older ones are worse, just that the possibility of minor errors is lower (for example, the alarm does not go off - typical for the fifth version). The weight of the phone with a standard NiMH 500 mAh battery is 125g. - only 15 gr. heavier than Siemens C35i. M35i dimensions are also not large 118*47*22.6 mm (millimeter wider and deeper than the younger brother). The device fits perfectly in the hand thanks to its slightly curved shape. The rear removable panel that closes the battery compartment, which is covered with non-slip rubber, betrays the special convenience of holding. Checked: even from a wet hand, the phone does not slip. In general, the body is pleasant to the touch, because. moderately rough. Without recharging, the phone will last for 2-6 days, and a continuous conversation will end in 90-300 minutes. The SIM card is inserted under the battery, lying in the holder, and only then driving into the body of the device. In my opinion, very reliable. After inserting the SIM card and turning on the phone with the combined call reset button, I saw the model name on the screen (which can be changed to your own greeting), and then a beacon with a field for entering a PIN code. The screen contains the date, time, battery level and network reception indicator. Additionally, there is an entry to the menu and a quick call to the most used feature (Internet by default). When receiving an SMS message, a letter is displayed on the right, when a telephone call is not answered, a telephone set is displayed. It should be added that the screen contains 101 x 54 pixels, and can hold five lines of text. Menu The hardware of the M35i, as well as its capabilities, are identical to the C35i. The menu is quite branched, and as a result, confusing. However, the prudent Germans added the possibility of a "reduced menu", when only frequently used (according to the manufacturer) items are displayed on the screen. Browsing through the menu is carried out using two oblong buttons, which, depending on the side you press, act in opposite directions. The disadvantages of Russification include the presence of only capital letters when choosing the Russian language. It seems that the Cyrillic alphabet does not provide for writing. In addition, it is possible to increase the already not small letters to the size of the entire screen, it looks, I must say, terrible, but not replaceable for people with poor eyesight. The phone contains a phone book with 100 numbers plus what fits in a SIM card. Each subscriber can be assigned, because a picture, or create a face in a primitive photo robot. The phone remembers 10 incoming, outgoing and unanswered calls. The phone book can also be used when sending SMS, so as not to dial the number every time. As for SMS, there is the possibility of inserting graphic primitives, which are really distinguishable only on other Siemens devices. The T9 quick typing system is also not forgotten, which, however, is stupid when transliterating. The M35i (namely the M35i, not the M35) implements WAP 1.1. Using the "#" button, you can expand or reduce the contents of the browser. For example, you can remove the scroll bar, menu entry icons, and the on-hook/on-hook indicator. And believe me, the screen was enough, despite the fact that the 35-series has an S model, in which the screen is even larger. Useful for tourists and athletes will be built-in stopwatch and countdown timer. A simple list of meetings with 30 points will be more convenient than a full-fledged organizer, but only for the traveler. There is also a calculator, a currency converter and games (there are 4 of them), which include the first three-dimensional (!) Walking game Wayout, in which, unfortunately, you don’t have to kill anyone. Sound quality, sensitivity As for the quality of communication, it is (which is logical) the same as that of the C35i, this once again refutes the widespread opinion that phones with an internal antenna have the worst reception. I specifically conducted a small test in which I used two phones (series C and M) connected to the same operator. As expected, both devices, like twins, constantly showed the same number of divisions on the five-step network reception indicator. The sound quality is good. Afflicts only a rather low upper sound level. No, the voice from the speaker can be heard perfectly, for example, in the city center or even near the highway, but no one (and especially tourists) is safe from getting into even noisier places (everyone knows that even the quiet murmur of water can greatly complicate speech perception) . Here the M35i is quite inferior to the capabilities of the Nokia6210. it (Nokia) has a volume change system that reacts to external noise levels, and is dynamically able to change the sound volume of the speaker. (Fortunately, the Siemens phone supports changing the volume during a call). Another omission of Siemens engineers is the lack of a speakerphone in the phone. Such an opportunity would not interfere with a conversation with busy hands. The actual strength test Siemens itself does not offer the M35i as an alternative to the Nokia 6250, according to it, this is just a phone ready for hard everyday life and sudden situations. However, I, risking the confidence of the owner of the apparatus, decided to conduct small "field" tests. From the very beginning, I could not believe that this model was waterproof. After all, on the side of the phone, and on the front there are special holes for the passage of sound. In addition, every time when watching an advertisement (a young man making a telephone conversation under a fountain), the M35i heart bled, and sadness overcame an innocently drowned telephone :-). In general, it was decided not to drown the device, but simply immerse it under running water, as shown in the advertisement. In addition, the phone, by and large, is not designed for immersion in water - this is eloquently evidenced by its instructions. After holding the subject for 3 minutes under a stream of water, I made sure that the stream of water did not interfere with his work. This is possible due to the presence of a tight latch mechanism on the back cover, and a rubber gasket under it. Throwing the phone on the floor or against the wall, I would not advise you, as well as the instructions. This, in my opinion, determines such a huge difference in the cost of Siemens M35i and Nokia 6250. Conclusion Undoubtedly, this device is perfect for athletes, tourists and other categories of citizens seen in an active lifestyle. In addition, thanks to its beautiful design, its use is also acceptable in everyday life. The "off-road" orientation of the phone did not really affect its weight (125 gr.) and ease of use. A loud, shrill phone call will be easily heard even in a deep pocket of a winter jacket, the vibrating alert, on the contrary, is rather weak, and is felt only when the phone is close to the body. Minor shortcomings, such as uninteresting games, not the loudest speech speaker, are easily compensated by pleasant little things, such as a large number of rubber plugs and a nice non-slip casing cover. The phone is reliable in all respects, convenient and not very expensive, and for sluts it is also irreplaceable. Author: Cherepovsky Konstantin See other articles Section Mobile Legends.
