SAMSUNG SGH-N300

With sufficiently large dimensions (112x42x18.5 mm), the phone weighs only 85 grams. The body of the device is made of plastic, and the front part is covered with silver paint, and the bottom part is black, like the external fixed antenna. The quality of the coating is good - the paint will not peel off, even if you carry the phone in your pocket along with the keys. On the side surface on the left are two keys that serve to adjust the volume. The main keyboard is hidden behind an active flip, above which there are a navigation key and two soft keys. To the right of the screen there is a separate key for calling wap-browser (version 1.1). The main keyboard is made of rubber, the keys are medium in size, it is convenient to work with them, including with one hand, although access to the bottom row buttons is somewhat difficult due to the protruding edge of the flip.

The phone uses a lithium battery with a capacity of 900 mAh. According to the manufacturer, standby time is up to 150 hours, talk time - up to 6 hours. The real values are, of course, somewhat smaller. So, in the case of 15-20 minutes of calls per day, the phone worked for about 3-4 days - it all depends on the signal level and the time the phone is used.

The N300 display is made using polymer technology, has a pleasant emerald backlight and a resolution of 128x128 pixels. The screen is large enough - it fits 5 lines of text, icons, menu title and labels for soft keys. If you count as is customary for most manufacturers, we can say that this graphic display supports up to 8 lines.

In terms of sensitivity, no differences were found between the devices. The N300 provides quite acceptable communication in the city without dropping out words or wheezing in the speaker, the volume of which is sufficient for conversations in a noisy place. The vibrating alert installed in the device deserves special praise: it works in such a way that you can feel it even from the pocket of a warm jacket.

The function of changing the color of the service indicator can also be used to identify subscribers. So, any entry in the phone book can be associated not only with a ringtone (50 preset + your own melody), but also with one of the colors of the service indicator. Indeed, a very convenient feature that allows you to set up the indication so that in the dark, especially in the evening or at night, you can immediately see who is calling. I do not advise assigning the same color to more than one subscriber, this is not very convenient.

Small summary

As you can see, the N300 almost completely repeats the N400 model, except for the design and display, and at the same time costs 30-40 dollars cheaper, which allows us to recommend it to everyone who is attracted by the appearance of the N300 and repelled by the retractable antenna in the N400. Moreover, fans of the Samsung brand, which are quite numerous in our country, will be happy with this model. And yet, I would not advise buying this phone, since all devices on our market will be gray, and this implies the impossibility of warranty repairs.

All in all, the N300 is a typical workhorse with some extras, but without an IrDA port and therefore the ability to use your phone as a modem without a cord. In any case, be careful when buying this device in our country: it will not be officially delivered here.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The world's largest chip 08.09.2019

Xilinx, one of the leading manufacturers of programmable logic (FPGA) chips, broke its own record with the release of a new chip called Virtex Ultrascale+ VU19P. The die of this chip is manufactured using 16-nm technology and has the highest density of logical cells per unit area and I / O ports. A total of 9 million programmable logical cells and 2 input-output lines are located on the chip of the new chip, the functions of which are set by the user during programming.

The FPGA monster provides a bandwidth of 1.5 Tbps over the DDR4 memory interface, and up to 4.5 Tbps over the bus, through which various types of wireless transceivers can connect to it.

"In today's electronics, there is a great need for a means of emulating and prototyping chips of complete systems-on-a-chip (SoC) and application-specific chips (ASIC)" - says Mike Thompson (Mike Thompson), one of the leaders of Xilinx, - "Given the ever-increasing complexity SoC and ASIC chips, only huge FPGA chips like the VU19P can handle this task.

According to available information, the VU19P chip is aimed at prototyping systems-on-a-chip with wireless radio interfaces. The use of FPGAs will make it possible to develop hardware and software solutions many months before systems under development for artificial intelligence, 5G communications, automotive and other industries can be embodied in silicon.

The VU19P FPGA is 1.6 times larger than its predecessor, the 440nm Virtex Ultrascale 20 chip with 5.5 million programmable logic cells. The VU440 has been the largest FPGA in the industry since it was released to the market in 2015.

When creating the VU19P, the developers faced the challenge of effectively cooling such a large device. "To solve this problem, the VU19P chip was flipped inside the package and the cooling elements can come into contact directly with the base of the silicon substrate," says Mike Thompson. According to Xilinx's plans, the Virtex Ultrascale+ VU19P chip will be available on the market by autumn 2020.
