MOTOROLA V50. Mobile phone overview Review The design of the Motorola v50 will appeal to anyone who loves flip phones. The device fits comfortably in the hand, which is no wonder given its size (40 x 107 x 25 mm). The weight of the phone with the battery is also very small, only 88 grams. The phone is available in one color solution, there are devices only in silver color. It is worth noting that carrying a phone in a jeans pocket is very convenient: it fits freely there, does not create inconvenience and practically does not protrude the pocket. Battery and SIM holder This model uses a 600 mAh lithium-ion battery that has become standard for Motorola in recent years. The battery is fixed with the help of protrusions in the upper and lower parts, grooves are made in the case itself, and at the top the recess is equipped with clamping springs. Once fixed, these springs securely press the battery into the socket and prevent it from dangling. The battery compartment is covered with a separate plastic cover, which is fixed with a plastic lock-latch. It is recommended to charge the battery for the first time according to the instructions for at least 14 hours, and you should not pay attention to the signal about the end of this process. In the future, a full charge of the battery from a discharged state takes about 2 - 2.5 hours. A regular travel charger is included in the package. According to the manufacturer, talk time is from 120 to 180 minutes, and standby time - from 40 to 100 hours. With an average intensity of using the phone in the city (15 - 20 minutes a day), the device was able to work for 3 full days without turning off for the night. These are very good indicators, indicating that the engineers managed to achieve low power consumption and economical use of resources. By setting the battery economy mode and setting the frequency of network search to medium or low, you can increase the battery life and, accordingly, the phone by 10 - 15 percent. There is a SIM card holder under the battery. This is a durable plastic construction used in many devices. Display, keyboard Opening the phone reveals the high-contrast Optimax graphic display. Its resolution - 96x54 pixels allows displaying up to 5 text lines of 18 characters each, as well as a line of icons and one more line of labels for service keys, in particular, for the OK button. All the information displayed on the screen is clearly visible even in bright light; in the dark, a soft green backlight helps, which is very pleasant and does not tire the eyes. It is possible to adjust the display contrast. The keys located on the bottom panel of the phone are made of plastic. They are slightly recessed into the body, the distance between adjacent keys is sufficient. It seemed to me that dialing a number from the keyboard with one hand is not always convenient, which is primarily due to the small size of the device and, consequently, the buttons. However, if you do not think about it, you do not feel any discomfort. The phone is turned on with a separate key. After switching on, the operator's name, signal strength, battery level and clock appear on the screen. Menu navigation This model has an atypical for Motorola menu in the form of lists, which is quite convenient. Entering the menu is carried out by pressing the corresponding key. Scrolling through the lists is smooth, if you are annoyed by some slowness of this process, you can turn off the animation, then the transition from one menu item to another will be almost instantaneous. The lack of shortcut keys in the main menu and its submenus is compensated by the presence of short customizable shortcut menus. Firstly, you can assign frequently used functions to 9 keys (from 2 to 0), and secondly, you can set up to 9 voice tags for the menu. In my opinion, these features reconcile with the lack of shortcut keys. The main menu is well structured, it is almost impossible to get lost in it. It consists of the following items:
Voice functions In addition to the already mentioned 9 voice tags for accessing menu items, there are 25 voice tags for calling numbers stored in the phone book. I was struck by how thoughtfully implemented the functions of working with the voice in this model, for example, all marks during recording must be spoken twice so that the phone can correlate them. Once, when I repeated the label entered earlier than necessary, the phone asked me to wait for the signal and only after that speak. But that's not all: trying to write the same label for different menu items led to the fact that the phone politely warned me that such a label already exists and that another word should be chosen !!! As they say, fantasy comes to every home. Perfectly implemented voice recorder for three minutes. Within this time, you can make any number of entries, both in standby mode and during a call. In the latter case, every 10 seconds, the interlocutor will hear the recording signal, and 10 seconds before it ends, you will hear a sound warning. And the best part is that this phone has the function of selective editing and deletion of voice notes. If in other models, in order to free up space, it was necessary to delete all voice memos, then in this device you yourself can choose what to delete and what to leave. You can set an alarm for each voice memo. That is, instead of typing the reminder text on the keyboard, it is enough to say it and set the alarm. Simple and easy. Yes, I completely forgot to say that to start and stop recording voice notes, there is a separate key located next to the antenna, at the top of the phone. Call quality, sensitivity, ring tones and vibrating alert In terms of such a parameter as communication quality, Motorola v50 occupies a worthy place among modern phones. The words are clearly distinguishable, with an uncertain reception, the sound sometimes becomes wadded, but it does not disappear. The sensitivity of the device, in my opinion, is also on top, even if compared with other Motorola phones - v3688 and v3690. The phone is 100% adapted to work in urban conditions. I involuntarily compared this device in terms of sensitivity with the Nokia 6210 and came to the conclusion that it is approximately the same for both models. The number of melodies and ringtones in this model is very modest. I personally don't really like the tone of the call inherent in Motorola phones. It is possible to create your own melody, you can also send and receive a melody via SMS. The vibrating alert is very strong: it can be felt even from the outerwear pocket. From such a small model, you do not expect such a powerful vibration, it could be the envy of phones with large sizes. Сonclusion In my opinion, this model is worth that kind of money: a well-thought-out menu system, the ability to customize the quick access menu, rich voice capabilities, talk timers, a wap-browser, a strong vibrating alert, and much more. The disadvantages include only minor problems with navigation in the menu (when instead of the top level you get to the idle screen). The rest of the phone is very nice. Summing up, I would venture to suggest that by choosing this phone, the buyer will be very pleased with it. This model is fundamentally different in its internal content from other Motorola clamshells, and, perhaps, people who complained about the complexity of the menu of this company's phones will find that they like this device.
