The dark silver plastic case looks stylish; The dimensions of the device also inspire respect - 98.4 x 59.7 x 28.5 mm and weighs 155 grams. In principle, Accompli 008 is an ordinary clamshell of large sizes. When you open the phone, you will find that there is no keyboard - all the free space is occupied by a large touch screen (53x40 mm) with a resolution of 160x160 pixels. On the front panel of the device are the keys to turn on / off the phone, quick access to the main menu and two navigation keys. The functions of the latter are successfully performed by the wheel located on the right side surface, which, in addition to everything else, has an additional degree of freedom and responds to pressing, which makes it easy, for example, to repeat the call of the last dialed number. On the other side face is a key for quick access to the voice recorder. At the end of the story about the design of the phone, I would like to note that at the bottom there is a stylus that can be easily removed from the case for working with the screen (it can be lengthened). At the top, next to the service indicator, there is an infrared port and a headset jack.

The back cover hides an 800 mAh lithium-ion battery. According to the manufacturer, the device can work up to 145 hours in standby mode or up to 270 minutes in talk mode. In urban conditions, the phone proved to be very good: with 20 minutes of calls a day, using two alarm clocks and an organizer, the device worked for 3 days. With a minimum number of calls (total time 20 minutes) and maximum use of 008 as an organizer, the smartphone functions up to 5 days. The charging time of the phone is about 2.5 hours.

Menu, data entry

The menu in Accompli 008 is organized very simply: in the center of the screen you see a row of icons, on the right - 4 tabs, by clicking with the stylus you can go to another page. The top line with information about the signal level (4 bars), battery charge (3 bars) and time remains unchanged. The phone icon is also located here, clicking on which you will gain access to virtual keys and be able to dial a number or call back the last dialed number. Unfortunately, you cannot access the full list of calls in this mode - only the last dialed one, which is very inconvenient. To exit this section, as well as in general from any submenu of the phone, you need to press the Exit key on the display or immediately press the rightmost key at the bottom - in this case you will be taken to the main menu, bypassing all the sub-items through which you went to the desired function. By the way, a long press on this key turns on and off the dim green display backlight.

At the bottom of the screen, there is always an image of a vibrating phone. By clicking on this icon, you will be taken to the call settings menu, where you can set the volume of the signal, melody or tone (out of 18 presented), as well as the type of call (vibrate, vibro then melody, only melody, silent). By activating the carrier name, you will get the details of the network and you can manually select a different network. Finally, the Motorola icon in the lower right corner gives access to information about the owner of the phone, in particular to its number.

Consider the functions presented on the first tab, called Phone. From this menu you get access to the phone book, the list of SMS messages, the list of recent calls (20 outgoing, 20 incoming, 20 missed with time and date), mail client, and wap-browser. But first things first.

The phone book allows you to create new contacts; for one person, you can write down a detailed work and home address, more than 6 phone numbers, make a text note, etc. The phone book is so detailed that it will satisfy anyone, especially since there are groups of subscribers and categories of entries. Any contact can be sent to another phone via infrared, SMS, or as an attached file along with an e-mail.

Information in the book can be entered using a small but quite comfortable virtual keyboard. The second way is handwriting recognition. By default, the recognition speed is set to low - I advise you to change it to the maximum, then you will see how well this function works, unless, of course, you have problems with handwriting.

The Short Message Center allows you to not only read and write messages, but also organize them into several standard folders or create folders yourself. Using the built-in mail client (POP3/IMAP4/SMTP/MIME), you can create directories for mail, send letters with attachments. Unfortunately, the attached files must match the data format used in the phone - it can be, for example, a contact (vCard).

I will not dwell on all the functions of the device, I will describe only its main capabilities, since it is impossible to cover everything, and it is not necessary. An interesting organizer that allows you to schedule things for the day, as well as for the week or month. When viewing cases for the day, you see the record itself and the set time. You can set up a warning, then, depending on the settings, the phone will tell you about the approaching deadline with a vibrating alert or a sound signal. When viewing the calendar for a month, the days for which events are set are marked with columns - the larger the column, the more entries for this day, everything is clear and, most importantly, convenient.

The Ink Pad application allows you to create drawings using the stylus, which are then saved or sent to another phone or fax machine. The voice recorder mentioned earlier is quite simple - it is designed for only 3 minutes of recording, but it also works during a conversation. The number of entries is not limited, you can choose the names for them yourself.

Of the additional applications, two alarm clocks, a measure converter, a calculator (normal and scientific), a currency converter, world time and, of course, games (there are three of them in the phone: Sokoban, Black Jack and Reversi) should be noted.

In the settings menu, you get access to an advanced melody editor - everything is extremely simple and very interesting. J2ME (kJava MIDP 1.0) is also located here. A Java machine that allows you to run applications on your phone, which greatly expands its capabilities. In the same menu, you can configure a fully functional packet data service (4 + 1). It is possible to synchronize with a PC using the included USB cable or via infrared, which is sometimes more convenient.

The phone has about 2 megabytes of memory, which is dynamically distributed among all applications, which allows you to create a huge number of entries in the phone book, sacrificing images that you do not need for this, or doing the opposite.

Subjective impressions

This is the case when size matters: it is problematic to carry a phone in your pocket, a very strong vibrating alert and a loud signal of a regular call save you from missed calls (these functions are really implemented very well). Good sensitivity and decent loudspeaker volume ensure high call quality. There are no problems during the conversation, however, the device is heavy, so I would not recommend chatting for hours. All the classic functions of a cell phone have been expanded, mass SMS has appeared, the phone book is huge in terms of the number of entries and is easy to use. Here's another form factor - then Accompli 008 prices would not exist!

Of course, this review could be much longer: the phone has so many possibilities that one could write a hundred pages about them. This article provides only general data, and here's why: it seems to me that this device has a number of specific features and is unlikely to be a wild success, because, firstly, not many people like hybrid devices, and secondly, the Accompli 008's capabilities as the organizer is quite modest. Those. it turns out that this is a very advanced phone and a very modest organizer. At the same time, people who can afford to buy such a device often feel the need for a PDA that performs not only and not so much the function of an organizer, but a repository of the most frequently used documents. Accompli 008 cannot claim such a role. In any case, if you like this phone, spin it in your hands, see how its size and functionality suit you, the general impression of which, I think, you have already made up after reading this review.
