Your current house is almost built. It remains to glaze the veranda. But do not rush to buy frames and order glass - there is another solution, cheaper and easier. See what such a veranda looks like (photo). The openings are closed with a polyethylene film stretched between horizontal rails. The latter can be raised to the desired height, thereby adjusting the size of the open opening.

Figure 1 shows a variant of such a "glazing" of a 1500x1500 mm window opening. Requires seven outer and six inner wooden battens, appropriately sized film, 28 screws with anti-corrosion coating - four screws each to fasten each of the six outer and inner battens with a film between them and to attach the top (fixed) batten and the edge of the film to the top element of the opening .

The slats of both profiles are best processed on a planer, then they will have more even, "commodity" surfaces. Before assembly, both the rails and the details of the opening need to be painted. It is recommended to double coat with semi-gloss acrylic paint, with water-soluble dyes.

The film can be single, 100 or 150 microns thick, but double is better, at least in the upper, more loaded part of it. Laths with film are assembled separately, prior to their installation in the opening: the film is fixed between the outer and inner laths. An "apron" is produced from the bottom pair of rails to drain rainwater from the veranda wall.

Reiki in the opening are mounted in two stages. First, side and front guides on vertical posts are assembled with bait with small nails and the possibility of easy movement of the rails in them is checked. At the same time, minimum gaps are required, otherwise the slats will vibrate and knock in the wind. Then the guides are finally attached to the racks with nails or screws.

An example of the simplest device for fixing raised rails is shown in Figure 2. Any strong and beautiful small-section cord is fixed with its ends to the upper element from the inside of the opening so that it passes through two cord guides fixed to the lower inner rail. The initial tension of the cord can be ensured by introducing its loop into the locking sleeve. The diameter of the hole in the latter depends on the diameter and material of the cord and is selected empirically so that the friction force between them is sufficient to fix the cord of the raised rails and, at the same time, would allow the cord loop to be pulled in both directions.

To exclude the possibility of accidentally pulling the loop out of the locking sleeve, it is enough to tie a knot on it or hang a ball. For the given dimensions of the window opening, the cord should be approximately 4,7 m long.

And one more, decorative, possibility: the plastic film on the inside can be decorated with felt-tip pens. Children will be happy to help with this. It is easy to wash off unsuccessful drawings with a solvent containing alcohol.

In the same way, you can close the openings in the garden gazebo and in other similar rooms. Operating experience has shown the high strength of this design at high wind loads.
