And there is at least a drop of my honey

Krylov I.A.
Krylov I.A.

Phraseologism: And I have at least a drop of honey.

Meaning: An expression of satisfaction, pride in the fact that the speaker was able to make a small, but his own, personal contribution to some kind of good deed (jokingly ironic).

Origin: From the fable "The Eagle and the Bee" (1813) by I. A. Krylov (1769-1844). The words of the Bee in a dialogue with the Eagle: "I look for my works, // But I console myself with the fact, looking at our honeycombs, // That there is at least a drop of honey in them and mine."

Random phraseology:

Rob the loot.

Meaning:

The political slogan of Soviet Russia.

Origin:

The slogan appeared in Russia in 1918 as a Russian tracing-paper of the Marxist term "expropriation of the expropriators". For the first time, this expression was used by Lenin V.I. in a speech on January 24 (according to other sources - 23) January 1918 in the wording "we are robbing the loot." At the same time, Lenin himself referred to the speech of the Don Cossack Shamov at the III All-Russian Congress of Soviets on January 16, 1918. Shamov remarked in this speech that "we are robbing robbers." In his speech at a meeting of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee on April 29, 1918, Lenin declared: "In the slogan "rob the loot" I cannot find anything wrong if history comes on the scene."

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Graphene from boron 29.08.2021

Theorists long ago predicted the existence of film forms of boron of atomic thickness - borophenes. But in practice, growing a single-layer borophene turned out to be orders of magnitude more difficult than obtaining graphene. Dreams of creating a multilayer borofen with the possibility of interlayer energy storage seemed like fantasy at all.

However, scientists were able to obtain the conditions for growing two-layer borophene, although this happened quite by accident. A group of scientists from the American Northwestern University reported growing samples of two-layer borophene. The secret lay in choosing the right substrate for the process.

The simplest methods can be used to produce graphene, including atomically thin peeling using a film with an adhesive layer. Borofen cannot be separated in this way. Its structure is stronger and an atomically thin layer can only be grown on a special substrate. Moreover, all attempts to grow a two-layer borophene ended in failure - instead of the second layer, volumetric accumulations of boron were formed in the form of a single-crystal structure.

In one of their experiments with substrates for growing borophene, scientists at Northwestern University used silver that was heated to a certain temperature. The resulting substrate looked like a cascade of terraces with a relatively large area each. During the experiment, it turned out that on such a substrate, borophene was formed in the form of two neat layers. Nobody expected this, but everyone was pleasantly surprised - they found what they had long dreamed of.

Double-layer borophene is in theory a better fit for future batteries than graphene. It is more durable, flexible and lightweight. The distance between two layers of borophene is good for ion trapping and energy storage. This material promises to simplify the structure of the batteries and reduce their weight. Scientists hope that they will be able to study the opportunities that have opened up for obtaining borophene in volumes that will make it possible to reveal its properties and, as a result, bring the possibility of practical application closer.
