Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Drone Thermal Imaging Camera 21.12.2015

DJI has partnered with FLIR to launch the Zenmuse XT thermal imaging camera for the Inspire One and Matrice 100 drones. The Zenmuse XT can be used for early fire detection, search and rescue, and home thermal efficiency measurements.

The Chinese manufacturer DJI is well-deservedly popular among filmmakers and drone enthusiasts, but now the company has become more focused on the corporate segment, recently releasing the Agras MG-1 model for spraying pesticides.

The Zenmuse XT is available in two resolutions, 640 x 512 pixels and 336 x 256 pixels. The camera is controlled using the DJI Go app. According to FLIR, the camera's sensitivity is about 0,1 degrees Celsius (50 mK at f/1). The camera is mounted using the standard hinge system used in the Inspire One and Matrice drones, so it is not difficult to swap it with other cameras used in DJI drones. The Matrice 100 drone can fly up to 35 minutes and the Inspire One up to 22 minutes.

The camera will go on sale in the first quarter of 2016.
