"Armed and very dangerous"
"Armed and very dangerous"

Phraseologism: Armed and very dangerous.

Meaning: Dangerous person (people, organization).

Origin: Title of a Soviet film (1978) directed by Vladimir Vainshtok. The script was written by Vladimir Petrovich Weinstock (1908-1978) and Pavel Konstantinovich Finn (b. 1940) based on the works of the American writer Bret Hart.

Random phraseology:

Nature does not tolerate emptiness.

Meaning:

If you do not consciously support, do not cultivate a good, good beginning in a person (society), then it will inevitably be replaced by a bad and evil one.

Origin:

From Latin: Natura abhorret vacuum. The expression belongs to the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle (384-322 BC). It became popular thanks to the French humanist writer Francois Rabelais (1494-1553), who in his novel "Gargantua" (1535) writes (part 1, ch. 5) about medieval physicists who were sure that "nature is afraid of emptiness" and this was explained. for example, the rise of water in pumps (they did not yet know about the pressure difference). Sometimes the Latin expression Horror vacui is used in the same sense - fear, fear of emptiness. In part, it can serve as an analogue of the well-known saying "A holy place is never empty" (jokingly-iron.).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Toshiba promises 10-year battery life 30.07.2007

Toshiba promises to release a battery with a lifespan of 10 years, or 5000 recharge cycles. The capacity can only decrease after 3000 cycles and only by 10%. In addition, the developers report the unique ability of the battery to charge up to 90% in just 5 minutes. Toshiba will begin production of the Super Charge ion Battery (SCiB) next year, with plans to sell 2016 billion batteries by March 100.

The company calls its invention "a breakthrough among rechargeable batteries." The capacity of each cell is 4,2 Ah. It is capable of delivering a voltage of 2,4 V with a weight of 150 grams. It is planned to combine 10 cells. Thus, the dimensions of the battery will be 100x300x45 mm, and the voltage is 24 V. In addition, the battery demonstrates a high degree of safety. The cathode is resistant to overheating and has a high ignition temperature.

The design of the battery is made in such a way as to protect it from internal shorting and thermal emission. Ignition and ignition of the battery are practically excluded.

The invention is planned to be used for the operation of scooters, electric cars and other small vehicles. Potentially Toshiba plans to use developments for use in hybrid cars and mobile phones.
