The chicken wants to live too

Music
Music

Phraseologism: The chicken also wants to live.

Meaning: It is cited as a playful justification (self-justification) of a "little man" who, like other, more fortunate people, wants to arrange his life.

Origin: From a city folklore song that was born during the Civil War and was especially popular in Russia in the 1920s: "Fried chicken, // Steamed chicken. // The chicken also wants to live. // They caught him, arrested him, // They ordered him to show his passport ..." The song became popular after the release on the Soviet screen of the film trilogy directed by Grigory Kozintsev and Leonid Trauberg "Maxim's Youth" (1935), "The Return of Maxim" (1937) and "Vyborg Side" (1939), where it was performed by actor Mikhail Zharov, playing the role of an anarchist. The actor recalled: "Fried chicken ..." This is a whole era! How many life situations are associated with this song!." (Zharov M. Life, cinema, theater. M., 1967).

Random phraseology:

Calm down, excitement of passion.

Meaning:

About the desire to cool the ardor, calm down.

Origin:

The opening lines of the romance "Doubt" (1838), written by the composer M. I. Glinka (1804-1857) to the verses of the poet Nestor Vasilyevich Kukolnik (1809-1868): "Calm down, excitement of passion! // Fall asleep, hopeless heart!"

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A new kind of space balloon for space travel 12.09.2022

Space Perspective is one of the few companies looking to cut space tourism costs. Space Perspective will charge $125 for a ticket to fly to the edge of space aboard its zero-emission space balloon.

The company has unveiled the final design for its "Neptune" balloon spacecraft, a pressurized capsule that will take passengers to the edge of space, although they won't technically reach space.

The Neptune spacecraft will reach a height of 30 km above the Earth's surface. This is about three times less than the Karman line, which many recognize as the boundary of the cosmos, while others dispute this figure.

The design of the spaceship-ball "Neptune" will provide a panoramic view of 360 degrees, and the curvature of the Earth and the darkness of space will be clearly visible. Passengers will be able to see about 724 km in each direction.

The full flight will last about six hours and cost about $125. Space Perspective also showcased the luxurious interior of its capsule. Now, according to the company, the spherical exterior design provides a more spacious cabin with more headroom, as well as additional safety benefits through optimal pressure resistance.

Space Perspective says it has developed a new capsule design after thousands of virtual flight tests and simulations. In collaboration with Siemens Digital Industries, the company came up with a design that includes a splash guard for water landing, a thermal management system and reflective windows. Space Perspective is now building the capsule at its facility near NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This is also the place where the company plans to launch flights on a space balloon.

Space Perspective offers a carbon-neutral form of space tourism with zero emissions. Other companies have similar offers, including Barcelona-based Zero 2 Infinity.
