Superman

Friedrich Nietzsche
Friedrich Nietzsche

Phraseologism: Superman.

Meaning: Usually used in a Nietzschean sense, but usually ironically.

Origin: The word became winged after the publication of the book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" (1883) by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900). who meant by the concept of "superman" a representative of the "race of masters", who is above the "morality of slaves." The very word "superman" in German literature existed long before Nietzsche, who only made it popular by filling it with a different meaning. German theologians of the 1th century. in their writings they called a perfect Christian, that is, a person full of all Christian virtues and, therefore, as close as possible to God. With this theological meaning of the word in mind, Goethe sneers at the concept of "superman" in his dramatic poem "Faust" (scene XNUMX).

Random phraseology:

And they eat Russian fat!

Meaning:

About people who condemn everything of their own, dear, but enjoy all the benefits that their homeland gives them (iron.).

Origin:

From the fable "Two Girlfriends" (1945) by Sergei Mikhalkov: "I know: there are still families, // Where ours are cursed and scolded, // Where they look with tenderness // At foreign stickers ... // And fat ... Russian are eating!"

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. Artificial eyes 27.07.2002

Canadian doctors managed to partially restore sight to a 39-year-old farmer who was blinded 20 years ago as a result of an accident. This is not the first patient whom Dr. W. Doubel, the inventor of "artificial eyes", helped to get rid of seemingly hopeless blindness.

Patients wear what looks like sunglasses with a miniature camera embedded in them. The microcomputer and stimulator are located in a special bag or on a belt. All this equipment is attached to a tiny device resembling a fire hydrant and implanted in the skull. This device connects two electrodes to the surface area of the brain responsible for vision.

Unfortunately, "artificial eyes" will not help, for example, those who are blind from birth or who lost their sight in childhood, since in such patients the cerebral cortex is underdeveloped. Those who have lost the ability to see already at a fairly mature age, and who remember what and how it should look, with the help of "artificial eyes" will be able to distinguish between surrounding objects.
