Phraseologism: Superman.
Meaning: Usually used in a Nietzschean sense, but usually ironically.
Origin: The word became winged after the publication of the book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" (1883) by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900). who meant by the concept of "superman" a representative of the "race of masters", who is above the "morality of slaves." The very word "superman" in German literature existed long before Nietzsche, who only made it popular by filling it with a different meaning. German theologians of the 1th century. in their writings they called a perfect Christian, that is, a person full of all Christian virtues and, therefore, as close as possible to God. With this theological meaning of the word in mind, Goethe sneers at the concept of "superman" in his dramatic poem "Faust" (scene XNUMX).
