Thomas Stearns Eliot. The most famous aphorisms

  • Great poetry should be both art and fun at the same time.
  • Democracy has triumphed, and now it is even more difficult to be an individual than before.
  • Why do we live if we do not try to make life easier for each other?
  • The playwright does not necessarily have to know people, he must feel them.
  • There are only two types of writers. Some, more popular, speak to the reader, while others, less fortunate, speak to themselves.
  • The task of the poet is not to look for new emotions, but to use old ones in a new way.
  • I don’t know if there are books that are completely harmless, but I have no doubt: there are books so meaningless that they are simply not able to do harm.
  • Poetry is not the release of emotions, but an escape from them; it is not the expression of individuality, but the avoidance of it. Although, of course, only those who have personality and emotions know what it means to want to avoid them.
  • Poetry should not only improve the language of its time, but also protect it from too rapid changes: if the language begins to develop too rapidly, such development will turn into progressive degeneration - this is the danger that threatens us today.
  • The creation of a work of art is the interpenetration of the personality of the author and the personality of his hero.
  • Happy is he who meets the right friend at the right moment. Happy is he who, at the right moment, meets a suitable enemy. I do not approve of the annihilation of enemies: the policy of annihilation, or, as they call it barbarously, the liquidation of enemies, is one of the most disturbing developments of modern war and peace.
  • Television is such an entertainment medium that allows millions of people to hear the same joke at the same moment and still be alone.
  • Only unbelievers are shocked by blasphemy, blasphemy is a sign of faith.
  • A good poet differs from a bad one in that all his poems are marked by the stamp of a personality - significant, complete, multifaceted.
  • Great luck is to meet at the right moment the right friend, no less luck is to meet the right enemy at the right time.
  • True poetry is perceived before it is understood.
  • Every moment is a fresh start.
  • The most difficult years are from fifty to seventy. More is expected of you all the time, and you are not too old to refuse.
  • Only those who risk going too far are able to figure out how far they can go.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Synaptic transistor that mimics the human brain 29.12.2023

An international team of scientists from leading US universities has made important progress in integrating computer architecture with the human brain by creating an innovative synaptic transistor. This device provides the opportunity to bridge the gap between biological and electronic systems.

Traditional differences in information processing and storage between the brain and computers have presented a major challenge to scientists. Unlike conventional computers, which transfer data between the processor and memory, the human brain performs both functions simultaneously. The solution to this problem was the creation of a new memory cell capable of performing the functions of a transistor.

The key to this research was the developed device - a synaptic transistor that operates at room temperature and consumes a minimal amount of energy - only 20 picowatts (pW). The scientists focused on using moiré quantum materials, which typically require cryogenic conditions, and successfully demonstrated the operation of their invention at room temperature, opening new horizons in the field of nanoelectronics.

The synaptic transistor consists of two layers of atomically thick material - graphene and boron nitride, overlapping with a slight displacement in the horizontal plane.

The main secret is to create a moiré pattern by rotating one layer at a specific angle, causing unique interactions known as "magic angles". These angles induce Coulomb interactions between the materials, leading to exotic electrical phenomena not visible in conventional materials.

The researchers also created neural circuits based on these synaptic transistors, successfully training them for associative learning. The experimental circuits successfully recognized binary groups of digits such as 000 and 111, demonstrating an accuracy of 97,5 percent.

Moiré synaptic transistor provides efficient circuits for in-memory computing and promises to be a cutting-edge technology in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The creation of the synaptic transistor represents a significant advance in the integration of biological and electronic systems. This technology promises a revolution in the field of nanoelectronics, and also provides new opportunities for the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
