Richard Aldington. The most famous aphorisms

  • Be careful. If a woman gets along with you without loving, she will make you pay for it, and if she loves, she will make you pay even more.
  • In love, accepting everything is perhaps even more difficult than giving everything away. We know what we give, but we do not know what we will receive.
  • Time is a mirage, it shortens in moments of happiness and stretches out in hours of suffering.
  • And in general, humanity is going to hell, it is rotten, rotten through and through. It stinks. He is being eaten by worms.
  • If you look at something with both eyes, you are not a scientist and you can fall into error, but if you close one eye and put a microscope between the other eye and the object of observation, then you are infallible.
  • Isn't it crazy that we have birth control in animals, and when it comes to humans, we don't even want to discuss it? Where will a good breed come from if we breed senselessly and senselessly, like white mice?
  • Relatives are terrible people. They do not bring anything good into your life and believe that this gives them the right to interfere in your affairs forever. And they impudently demand that you love them - you see, blood, not water. It may not be water, but floundering in blood is no fun for me.
  • A person is just a short-lived vessel for digesting food, he wants to enjoy life, and death lies in wait for him.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Mini air conditioner Sony Reon Pocket 5 09.05.2024

Summer is a time for relaxation and travel, but often the heat can turn this time into an unbearable torment. Meet a new product from Sony - the Reon Pocket 5 mini-air conditioner, which promises to make summer more comfortable for its users. Sony has introduced a unique device - the Reon Pocket 5 mini-conditioner, which provides body cooling on hot days. With it, users can enjoy coolness anytime, anywhere by simply wearing it around their neck. This mini air conditioner is equipped with automatic adjustment of operating modes, as well as temperature and humidity sensors. Thanks to innovative technologies, Reon Pocket 5 adjusts its operation depending on the user's activity and environmental conditions. Users can easily adjust the temperature using a dedicated mobile app connected via Bluetooth. Additionally, specially designed T-shirts and shorts are available for convenience, to which a mini air conditioner can be attached. The device can oh ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

A tomograph is more efficient than a polygraph 19.11.2016

When a person tells a lie, he gets excited, and this excitement can be detected by a number of physiological signs: by changing the pulse, breathing rhythm, sweating of the hands, etc. We know how everything happens from the films: the suspect is sitting, hung with some kind of wires, he is asked various questions, to which he answers, and if any answer contains a lie, then the polygraph records certain changes in physiology (judging by movie, then everything becomes clear right away, but in fact, the data of the device require analysis by a specially trained polygraph examiner).

The polygraph appeared more than half a century ago, and since then it has remained the only lie detector, although over time it became clear that its accuracy could be higher. Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania offer an alternative to the polygraph.

It is known that in response to a lie, decision-making zones are activated in the brain, and, accordingly, a lie can be detected using an MRI machine that "catches" changes in brain activity in real time. In fact, they already tried to compare the tomograph and the polygraph, and if the range of accuracy of the polygraph was wide enough (the device determined the lie either purely by chance, as if it were just giving an answer at random, then with an accuracy of 100%), then in the case of the tomograph, the picture turned out to be more stable - The accuracy of MRI in detecting lies from time to time was at the level of 90%.

So far, however, no one has tried both methods in the same experiment with the same people, and this is exactly what Daniel D. Langleben and his colleagues tried to do: they asked 28 volunteers to take a special psychological test while they were being tested. polygraph and MRI.

The test consisted of the following: a person had to secretly write down a certain number, from three to eight, after which they began to ask him what number he wrote down. There were six questions in total, and each had to be answered "no", so one of the questions, willy-nilly, had to lie. Each person took the same test twice, on a polygraph and on an MRI scanner, and each result was interpreted by three polygraph examiners and three brain imaging specialists.

In general, it turned out that according to MRI data, it is possible to determine a lie by 24% more accurately than according to polygraph data. However, the maximum, one hundred percent accuracy could be achieved with the consistent use of both methods: in other words, if both devices regarded the answer to a question as false, then their total accuracy turned out to be the most complete - experts could say with 100% certainty that it was here that the person lied.
