Dorothy Clasen, an MA from the Cologne International School of Design, has come up with an unusual way to interact with a computer. With its special controller, you can control the device in your own language!

The prototype of the device is a dental retainer with a ball and a magnet attached to it, which can ride on special "rails". The idea is simple: the wearer attaches the device to their mouth and then simply moves the ball back and forth with their tongue. To communicate with a computer via a WI-FI network, the device has a special wire that is attached to a small sensor on the outside (it can be hidden behind the ear).

According to Klasen, her device can greatly facilitate the lives of the disabled, as well as help people whose hands are busy. To demonstrate how the prototype works, Klasen played the game Tong, in which you have to hit the opponent's ball so that it doesn't "miss" the controller.

The girl came up with the idea in a very strange situation... when she was riding a horse: "Because I am a horse rider, I was intrigued by the tactile connection between the rider's hand and the horse's mouth."

American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Synthesis of starch from carbon dioxide 06.10.2021

Chinese scientists were the first in the world to develop a method for the artificial synthesis of starch from carbon dioxide.

Starch is an essential component of cereals and is usually produced during photosynthesis. The process of starch synthesis in nature includes about 60 biochemical reactions and complex physiological regulation.

The research team has developed a way to artificially synthesize starch with just 11 basic reactions, achieving the first complete synthesis from carbon dioxide to starch molecules in the lab. The structure of synthetic starch is exactly the same as the structure of natural starch.

The efficiency of synthetic starch production is about 8,5 times that of traditional agricultural starch production.

According to the current technical parameters, the annual production of starch in a bioreactor with a capacity of one cubic meter is theoretically equivalent to the amount of starch obtained from an annual crop of a corn field in China with an area of approximately 0,3 hectares, excluding energy costs.
