Ultra-durable magnesium compound

Allite has developed a special magnesium alloy that is denser and more flexible than carbon fiber. The alloy sits somewhere between lightweight aluminum and carbon fiber, while offering much greater stability, density and stiffness, as well as a lower cost to manufacture. Being introduced to the mass market, the alloy is sure to become one of the most widely used in various fields.

Initially, this magnesium alloy called Super Magnesium was developed for military purposes and needs - mainly to improve military equipment. Now the alloy will find its niche in the civil market of materials. The developers note that the final type of alloy was obtained from three separate ones - AE81, ZE62 and WE54. Each of them has its own physical and chemical characteristics, thus each of them stands out due to its greater flexibility and resistance. At the same time, it is worth noting the fact that even at the highest temperature they do not burn, but melt, which is also an uncharacteristic behavior of this magnesium alloy.

Specialists did some additional work and ensured that the presented alloys become excellent electrical insulators, thereby further increasing their resistance to working with high-voltage objects. With a 20% greater density, the new magnesium alloy weighs 15% less than the lightest carbon fiber - however, aircraft alloys of this type are still 32-35% denser, depending on the application and specific air transport.

The result surprised and amazed developers who were not ready for such a quick success - now their development is really prominent in the market and may soon become the most used in a wide context. It remains to wait for the final stage of refinement of the alloy, as specialists need to rid it of "military" characteristics.

A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. Traco Power TMG - compact AC-DC modules per board 28.06.2017

Traco has developed a family of ultra-compact PCB mount power supplies. The new converter family includes four series TMG 07, TMG 15, TMG 30 and TMG 50 in the power range from 7 to 50 watts respectively.

The overall dimensions of TMG modules, for example, the 7W-series (TMG 07), are only 27,4 x 27,4 x 18,7 mm, which is more than 2 times smaller than the volume of power supplies of the corresponding power widely used on the market. Despite such small dimensions, the new family of power supplies is operable in a wide temperature range of -40°С...+70°С (with power dependence in the region of increased values).

Converters of the TMG family are produced for a standard range of output voltages, have protection against short circuits and overvoltage, and meet the requirements of class II in terms of electrical safety (electrical insulation strength 5,6 kV DC for TMG 15 and 4,2 kV DC for the rest).

TMG power supplies are manufactured in a plastic case with a compound filling. For electromagnetic compatibility, the power supplies comply with EN 55022 class B. The new products are intended for various industrial and commercial devices of critical use where there are restrictions associated with overall dimensions.
