Honeywell HPMA115S0 - PM2.5 Dust Meter

29.05.2019

Honeywell has introduced a new HPMA115S0 dust mass meter that measures airborne fine particulate matter as small as 2,5 microns. The HPMA115S0 is designed to be integrated into portable and fixed air quality instruments. The 43mm x 36mm x 24mm 5V 80mA device uses an integrated fan to draw air through an internal chamber where a laser-photodiode pair counts and analyzes dust particles, and an onboard microcontroller translates this information into dust mass concentration. in the air.

Within a single information package, accessible through the UART interface, there is separate information on the concentration of particles smaller than 2,5 microns (PM2.5, smoke particles or bacteria) and particles smaller than 10 microns in diameter (PM10, dust, pollen or mold) .

The sensor has the following technical characteristics:

Operating time 20000 hours, which is equivalent to 7 years of operation at a load of 8 hours a day.
Measurement time 6 seconds.
Measurement range from 0 to 1000 µg/m3.
Accuracy +- 15 µg/m3 in the range from 0 to 100 µg/m3 and +- 15% in the range from 100 to 1000 µg/m3.
Operating temperature range -10 °C to 50 °C.
Electromagnetic compatibility in accordance with the IEC61000 group of standards.

The presence of UART with 3,3 V levels makes it possible to connect to an external microcontroller without signal level conversion. It is possible to transfer the device to low power consumption mode with the built-in fan turned off and the current consumption reduced to 20 mA.

It may also be important for the developer to have a built-in stabilizer on board the device that converts the supply voltage of 5 V into an output voltage of 3,3 V, which can be used to power an external circuit, for example, controls or indications.

The Honeywell HPMA115S0 dust meter can be used with the following devices:

Air conditioners and air purifiers.
Portable air quality meters.
Integrated environment monitors.
Car air purifiers.

The Honeywell HPMA115S0 module is calibration free, RoHS compliant and REACH compliant.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Cyborg transistor 20.11.2011

Transmission of signals from nerve fibers to electrodes and vice versa will soon become a reality. To create a full-fledged contact between a person and a computer, that is, to ensure a direct exchange of signals, it is necessary to ensure the compatibility of information carriers. And they are incompatible, because in computers, currents of electrons flow in microcircuits, and in living beings in nerve cells - protons.

Obviously, it is possible to recode an electric current into a proton current using a proton transistor controlled by an electron current field. The prototype of such a transistor was created by researchers from the University of Washington, led by Associate Professor Marco Rolandi.

Its main detail is a proton conductor. It was made from nanofibers of chitosan, which is obtained from crab shells and other similar sources. This material is easily saturated with water, and the proton moves along the network of hydrogen bonds between electrodes made of proton-permeable palladium hydride. And the gate electrode controls the movement of protons: depending on the potential applied to it, the current flows or does not flow, corresponding to a logical zero or one.

So we came close to the possibility of creating a cyborg - a living being, combined with an electrical device.
