Electronic system for simultaneous interpretation into the sign language of the deaf and dumb

The Institute of Computer Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as a result of the development of intelligent command recognition technologies, created a computer system for simultaneous translation into sign language. It is intended for deaf children.

According to the project manager, Professor Gao Wen, this system has no analogues in the world and is capable of recognizing over 5 gestures. The words spoken by the operator are translated into sign language by the computer and displayed on the monitor. Now deaf and dumb TV viewers will be able to "listen" to the news.

The system can also be used for teaching sign language, as an electronic dictionary or as a tour guide.
