High Speed NFC Memory ST25DV

28.04.2018

A new series of ST2DV wireless NFC / I25C memory chips from STMicroelectronics complies with ISO15693 and NFC Type 5 standards. The main feature of the ST25DV is the Fast data transfer mode, which is implemented through an internal buffer of 256 bytes of RAM (Mailbox).

The microchip can be used both as a conventional dynamic NFC tag (NFC TAG, NDEF message support) and as an interface for wirelessly updating the firmware of the final product via the RFID protocol. In the latter version, it is the high-speed exchange mode that can significantly reduce the firmware download time. In a real experiment, it took about 32 seconds to load an image for STM405F110 with a size of 45 kb.

There are several variants of ST25DV04K, ST25DV16K and ST25DV64K chips available, with EEPROM memory capacity of 4/16/64 Kbps, respectively. Through the I?C interface, microcircuits can work with any microcontroller with a constant power supply. It is possible to interact with the ST25DV via the air interface even without power supply - the microcircuit receives energy for writing and reading data from the electromagnetic field of the reader. If necessary, the radio interface can be disabled via I?C. The internal EEPROM memory can be divided into 4 flexible areas with 64-bit password protection. The microcircuit can interact with both NFC-compatible smartphones and specialized 13,56 MHz RFID readers.

A separate GPO pin on the chip can inform the host of various events, such as RF field detection, air interface activity, or the availability of a message in Mailbox. Under certain conditions, the ST25DV implements Energy Harvesting technology, allowing the connected external circuitry to be powered by the energy of the RFID reader.

ST25DV NFC memory features:

Dynamic NFC tag ISO15693 and NFC Type 5;
Range up to 1 meter;
Capacity 1,2 and 8 kilobytes;
Password protection 64 bit;
Proprietary speed mode up to 53 Kbps;
1 million EEPROM write cycles;
Data storage up to 40 years;
Temperature range -40...125°C (SO8N and TSSOP8).

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Home warmth - almost for free 26.10.2004

In just one day, American defense workers assembled a two-story cottage, the heating and cooling of which will cost 45 cents a day.

Scientists from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory of the US Department of Energy have developed a project for a house with almost zero energy consumption and even put it into practice in the form of a two-story cottage for a resident of Lenoir City, Tennessee. The house has taken all measures to protect the premises from uncontrolled heat and air exchange with the environment, as well as to utilize free energy such as Earth's heat or solar radiation.

The first floor of the house and the foundation are built from ready-made concrete blocks with thermal insulation, the second floor - from heat-insulating panels. In addition, the roof and walls are painted with "cold" paint, which reflects infrared rays, protecting the house from overheating. For heating, a water heater is used, built on the principle of a heat pump; in it, heat from a cold volume is transferred to a warmer one at the expense of energy consumption. At the same time, the energy spent on the transfer ultimately also goes to heating.

Additional sources of energy are geothermal heat, as well as a solar panel connected to the city's power grid. For air exchange in the house, adjustable mechanical ventilation is arranged; it is so well designed that the air quality matches that of a wooden house. When all the details are done in advance, the installation of the house takes very little time: the concrete first floor is erected in six hours, the second, from panels, in five, and the roof in three hours.

This house is worth a hundred thousand dollars. For heating and cooling, the owner will spend only 45 cents a day, while a cottage of this size in this city requires from 4 to 5 dollars.
