Finland to deploy 5G-ready class network

The Finnish telecommunications company Elisa announced its intention to deploy an advanced 5G-ready cellular network in the country by the end of the coming spring.

The project will be implemented in the oldest city of Finland - Turku, which is located in the south-west of the country at the confluence of the Aurajoki River into the Archipelago Sea.

Elisa is reported to start upgrading its existing 4G infrastructure as early as next month. The installed equipment will be replaced with a new one, ready to work with 5G services (5G-ready). It is important to note that so far there is no talk of a full-fledged launch of the fifth generation mobile network. But the company notes that in the future - with the advent of the necessary standards and obtaining licenses - the transition to 5G can be carried out in a short time and without technical difficulties.

The modernization is scheduled to be completed in May 2018. The network based on the new equipment will be able to provide increased data transfer rates based on LTE technologies, as well as improve the reliability of connections.

It is noted that the new network infrastructure will become the basis for a "smart" city. We are talking about unmanned vehicles, intelligent utilities, etc.

It should also be added that earlier Elisa began installing 5G-ready equipment in another city in Finland - Tampere, which is the second most important city center after Helsinki.

A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. Plastic that can be endlessly recycled 10.10.2022

American scientists have developed a plastic that does not degrade when repeatedly recycled. This was reported by the press service of the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Plastic waste poses a huge danger to the environment due to the fact that it practically does not decompose and serves as a source of microplastics that poison people and animals. Almost all types of plastics, including PET, are recyclable, but unlike metals, only a few times. In addition, the quality of the product decreases with each cycle.

Zhang Wei came up with a plastic that practically does not degrade during recycling. The formation and degradation of the polymers of which it is composed are almost equally easy. The created polymer belongs to the class of polycyanurates, they have high strength, but are difficult to decompose.

American chemists have found that this property of polycyanurates can be eliminated by replacing some of the carbon atoms with nitrogen and forcing the remaining carbon atoms to combine with oxygen. As a result of such processing, a new type of single polymer units will appear, which will form strong bonds with each other when heated, but will easily decompose if the plastic is immersed in a hot mixture of alcohol and potassium carbonate solution.

The following tests showed that it is possible to decompose plastic repeatedly and reuse the resulting raw materials, whose chemical composition does not actually change during each recycling cycle.
