The Japanese corporation Sony has introduced a new generation of robotic dog - intelligent pet aibo will go on sale in January next year.

Compared to its predecessors, the new robot dog looks and behaves more naturally. The dog has all parts of the body moving, and the total number of degrees of freedom reaches 22. The robot is equipped with an array of four microphones and a speaker; small OLED displays are integrated into the eyes.

Over time, aibo learns and adapts to its owners. For example, a dog remembers actions that make people smile and enjoy. In addition, the dog takes into account when the owners stroke and praise him, and when they scold him for "tricks".

The robot is endowed with a wide variety of sensors. These are touch sensors on the back and head, three-axis gyroscopes and accelerometers, motion sensors, light sensors, etc. In addition, there are cameras.

Inside aibo beats a silicon "heart" with four computing cores. The dog supports data exchange via LTE cellular networks and IEEE 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi wireless networks.

Deep learning tools allow a robotic dog to change its behavior over time. The dog is able to demonstrate its own emotions, in particular, to reciprocate the expressions of love from the owners.

The aibo measures approximately 180 x 293 x 305 mm and weighs 2,2 kg. The battery charge is enough for two hours of active existence, recharging takes about three hours.

Initially, the novelty will be available in Japan for about $1700. In addition, owners will have to purchase an accompanying service subscription (for access to the cloud and LTE) for three years at a cost of $26 per month.

According to many scientists, the future belongs to environmentally friendly hydrogen energy. However, hydrogen is difficult to store: at normal pressure it takes up too much space, compressed hydrogen cylinders are explosive and heavy. Liquid hydrogen requires voluminous thermal insulation. It is possible to store hydrogen in metal hydrides based on rare metals, but they are expensive.

Employees of the Danish University of Technology have developed a method for storing hydrogen in the form of ammonia, which is part of the complex salt formed by ammonia with magnesium chloride.

Tablets can be pressed from this salt. When heated above 300 degrees Celsius, ammonia is released from the tablet; it is passed through a catalyst and decomposed into nitrogen and hydrogen. Magnesium chloride is not wasted in any way and can be "charged" with hydrogen again. A supply of pills in a container equal in volume to an ordinary car gas tank allows a car to travel 600 kilometers.
