Flexible displays make smartphones unbreakable

Research firm Futuresource Consulting estimates that the flexible display market will be valued at $200 billion in five years and grow to $300 billion in ten years.

In the coming years, such displays will be used by smartphone manufacturers, which, when unfolded, will turn into tablets. Analysts also believe that the technology will find application in presentation panels and TVs, which can be curved to more accurately display information in various conditions.

Futuresource Consulting believes that flexible displays will hit the market in a year or two. The devices in which they will be applied will allow displays to be repeatedly bent or rolled up without causing any harm. Surely the developers will come up with new usage scenarios for smartphones and tablets in addition to the long-familiar ones.

In the future, smartphones with flexible displays will receive a number of new features, in particular, they will be unbreakable, analysts say, adding that by 2026 more than a quarter of new smartphones will be equipped with such screens.
