Single Board PC iTOP-4412

iTOP-4412 single-board PC based on Exynos 4412 SoC with four Cortex-A9 cores and Mali-400 MP4 GPU is presented. A board with a not-so-new SoC might be interesting for its set of interfaces and added support in the Linux kernel.

The amount of DDR3 RAM is only 1 GB, but it works in dual-channel mode, there is a slot for a microSD memory card and a soldered 4 GB eMMC module. Image output is possible through one HDMI 1.4 port, two LVDS and a connector for connecting an LCD panel. Two USB 2.0 and microUSB ports with OTG support, a Fast Ethernet network port and a Wi-Fi wireless adapter are soldered.

Sound transmission is possible via the HDMI port or microphone and headphone jacks, you can connect an external camera with MIPI CSI interface, there are also two serial ports. There are 20 general purpose GPIO pins, JTAG headers, UART headers, power and system control buttons (Home, Back, Sleep and volume).

The iTOP-4412 single board PC comes with an external power adapter with 5V, 2A output.

A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. Seismology of crimes 14.02.2011

As mathematician George Mohler of the University of Los Angeles (USA) has shown, a computer program developed by seismologists in order to predict the possibility of repeated aftershocks after a major earthquake can predict crime.

Mohler took data on 2803 burglaries in the Los Angeles metropolitan area in 2004 and, looking at them day by day, tried to use seismological algorithms to predict where the next day's burglaries would be. It turned out that if this technique had been used in 2004, the police could have increased vigils in the predicted risk areas and reduced the number of such crimes in the area by a quarter.

After that, the mathematician looked at the data on the bloody skirmishes between local street gangs for 1999-2002 and was able to successfully predict, to within a few days and meters, when and where the next fight would occur.
