Sunlight increases the sexual activity of men

07.10.2016

Scientists at the European University Neuropsychopharmacological Congress found that a daily dose of bright light can increase testosterone levels, increasing male potency and sexual activity.

The researchers recruited 38 male subjects who were diagnosed with a disorder characterized by a lack of interest in sex. Their baseline libido and testosterone levels were measured prior to the start of the trial, after which the subjects were divided into 2 groups: one received a 30-minute "shower" of white fluorescent light at an intensity of 10,000 lux immediately after waking up, and the control group received a placebo in a much less intense light.

Before starting the treatment program, the men rated their sexual satisfaction at 2 points out of 10. After two weeks, those who regularly received a dose of bright light had a three-fold increase in libido, and patients already rated it at 6 out of 10. In the placebo group, however, only a sluggish increase to 2,7 was observed. The level of testosterone in the first group also increased from 2,1 ng / ml to 3,6 ng / ml, which also served as an incentive to increase sexual activity.

“In the Northern Hemisphere, testosterone production naturally declines between November and April, and then gradually rises during the spring and reaches its peak in the summer. Simulation of the sunny season really plays a big role in a person’s sex life: you can see that most often the reproductive surge is observed in June-July," notes Andrea Fagiolini, lead scientist and author of the study.

According to experts, phototherapy may be more effective than taking antidepressants or chemical injections of pathogens, while it does not cause side effects. For both men and women experiencing various problems associated with sexual dysfunction, such therapy will only benefit.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

New ways of liver regeneration have been found 22.10.2023

Researchers in the United Arab Emirates have discovered innovative ways to restore the liver. Foreign sources report on epigenetics methods that can promote the regeneration of this important organ of the human body.

World scientists have long been looking for unknown ways to renew the cells of human internal organs. An important discovery in this area was made by a team of specialists from the UAE.

According to the researchers, an effective way to stimulate liver regeneration is to remove certain parts of the epigenome responsible for suppressing jumping genes. This method results in a redistribution of epigenetic marks.

This is explained by the fact that a form of epigenetic compensation prevents the activation of transposable elements of the genome. It blocks the regulation of gene expression by compensatory epigenetic marks. This process ensures that repressive genes are activated earlier, which helps support regeneration after surgical removal of parts of the liver, as is often the case with tumor resection.

The results open the way to a deeper understanding of liver regeneration and the unique ability of this organ to recover, which exists in all mammalian species, including humans. In laboratory experiments, deletion of the core epigenetic regulator UHRF1 in the liver of mice led to a milder response of other particles, and the organ itself was successfully restored by activating specific genes.
