Swimmers have been using fins for a long time, and now people have borrowed a wide tail that is comfortable for swimming from pinnipeds.

The fashion to swim with a wide spade-shaped fin worn on the legs originated in the USA and is spreading all over the world. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. Powerful Silicon Carbide Semiconductors from Renesas Electronics 01.02.2012

Renesas Electronics has announced the delivery of three high-power semiconductor devices that use silicon carbide (SiC). New items received the designations RJQ6020DPM, RJQ6021DPM and RJQ6022DPM. They are sets of diodes and transistors in a common package, designed for powerful converters or switches.

The products belong to Renesas' second series of silicon carbide high-power semiconductor devices, the use of which helps to reduce losses. Among the areas of application for new products, the manufacturer names servers, cellular base stations, household appliances such as air conditioners, as well as power supply systems based on solar panels.

The RJQ6020DPM package contains a high voltage SiC-SBD Schottky diode rated up to 600 V with a reverse resistance recovery time of only 15 ns, and two high voltage high power MOSFET transistors with an on-state resistance of 100 mΩ.

The RJQ6021DPM package contains a SiC-SBD diode and two insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) with a low residual on-state voltage of 1,5V. The RJQ6022DPM package contains two SiC-SBD diodes and two IGBTs.

Introductory samples of products will appear in February at a price of $10 apiece. The company expects to start serial production in May.
