MSP432 and CC3100 for the Internet of Things

23.07.2015

The concept of the "Internet of Things" is becoming more and more popular. The first simple devices appear that use the Internet for communication. Whether the devices are within the same room or scattered around the globe - for the MSP432 paired with the CC3100 it does not matter - data will be transferred and control will be performed if there is Wi-Fi nearby.

The MSP432 is a new family of high performance yet low power microcontrollers from Texas Instruments. The powerful ARM Cortex M4F compute core, along with 850nA consumption, leaves many competitors far behind, making this controller ideal for implementing high-performance standalone IoT devices. A 14-bit analog-to-digital converter allows you to get accurate values from sensors of various types, and the simultaneous presence of built-in LDO and DC / DC converter allows you to organize the most optimal power supply for a particular task.

The CC3100 network processor implements a wireless communication channel - Wi-Fi according to the 802.11 b / g / n standard with a maximum data transfer rate of 16 Mbit / s, as well as with the ability to organize its own network.

The result of combining the MSP432 with the CC3100 is a powerful universal platform for implementing any device for organizing data transmission and control over the Internet.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Coffee can improve the performance of semiconductors 15.12.2022

An ingredient found naturally in coffee can make semiconductors work faster, according to a study by the Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Japan.

The researchers formed a thin layer of caffeic acid on a gold electrode inside an organic semiconductor through a process known as vacuum deposition. This reportedly made it possible to increase the current in the semiconductor by up to 100 times, which was measured using a process called the Kelvin probe method.

According to the study, after applying a thin layer of caffeic acid to the electrode surface, the caffeic acid molecules spontaneously lined up on the electrode surface, allowing the current to flow faster. While this doesn't mean you can spill coffee on a mobile workstation to speed up render times, Japanese scientists believe this breakthrough could have some practical applications.

Among them is the development of fully sustainable organic semiconductor devices that can be created entirely from biomass-derived materials. While organic semiconductors already exist, such as organic light emitting diodes (OLED) and organic solar cells (OPV), professionals have made an impact on the environment by recycling these technologies.

The developers pointed to the current introduction of electrode modification layers that are used to accelerate the flow of electrical charges within semiconductors, emphasizing that the use of these materials can adversely affect aquatic organisms. The use of caffeic acid, which can be obtained entirely from plants, may reduce the need for the use of unstable chemicals in semiconductor manufacturing.
